We all know drinking and drugs are no good but is it ok for a Doctor to do? Some sleeping pills are powerful and mixed with alochol can be worse. What if the family calls the Doctor telling them they see the changes in the family member and for their own safety, as well as the patient to take them away but the Doctor doesn't. My Dad was drinking and taking sleeping pills and once he parked his car in the garage and for got to shut it off till the next day due to mixing alochol and sleeping pills...We as a family have called several times to take them away but he just gave him another brand of sleepings pills

We tend to see Doctors because we have a 'problem' with our health, as in anxiety, sleeping disorder, heart problem, arthritis and the Doctor will prescribe drugs based on the 'symptoms' if not blood tests and diagnosis. It is the Patients responsibility to take the drugs, unless you know a situation where a Doctor arrived three times a day to force feed some able Patient with antibiotics. The Pharmaceutical Companies place warning labels on the drugs, so the Patient can read what they should do and what they should not do. Therefore the responsibility falls with the Patient.
I am on Fentanyl Patches and the warning states clearly 'AVOID ALCOHOL' and so I tried the non-alcohol beer, with 0.01% alcohol. I ended up vomiting all over the place, so when its states AVOID it means ZERO!
If I decided to go on a drinking binge, then that is my responsibility as a Patient and not my Parents, siblings or Doctors responsibility.

Change Doctors....that's what I would do.

I certainly wouldn't wait for my father to kill himself or someone else.
