I was recieving photos from a sharing folder through msn, I went to open my pictures folder and it wouldn't open it. All my photos are gone!
I have my whole life in those pics, any ideas how to get them back??
I have done a system restore and that didn't work, I have also ran my windows defender and it says my computer is running normally.
Please help.

Just before your windows loads, hit F8.

Boot in safe mode, try accessing the My Pictures folder..
If it still does not work, try the system restore in safe mode itself..

OK, DO NOT SAVE ANYTHING ELSE ON YOUR COMPUTER! There is a chance they may be overwritten. Files are not deleted right away, rather the space that they took up is marked as free. As you save subsequent data, so that space is taken up and those files are overwritten permanently. Get yourself some file recovery software, and you should be able to recover them alright. Just don't save anything! I hope it works out for you =oD

I don't know what you mean by "I went to open my pictures folder and it wouldn't open it." - can you expand on this further. Do you mean your 'My Pictures' folder or is it a folder in your MSN folder? And why won't it open - does an error message appear?

Check if the files are set to hidden by accident, then try some data recovery software.

If they are important, then best NOT to do anymore damage by trying things you dont know, best to take it to someone who knows how to do data recovery and how to best protect your computer from virus/hackers etc.

get a really good anti virus like avg and scan the whole computer. if it finds the virus delete it. if that doesn't work you could do system recovery.
