it depends on how old are u if ur over 20 then i gess its ok and if ur 25 then do whatever u want

If you are 18 or over, then it's a big gap but it's not illegal and sometimes such age differences work out...your friends aren't dating the guy so their opinion doesn't matter much (unless they know things about him that you do not, and they are concerned about your well being).
Do what works for you...10 yrs +/- has been the max age range I preferred in the past, it's less than that now.

it is not wrong, but people should advise you because you will not feel that difference now but latter on you will feel lite specially when you will be 31 and he is 40, you will be full powerful and want to go outside and do so many things and he wants to set at home and watch moves.
when you will be 41 and he is 50, you want to stay at night and watch moves and talk with him and he wants to sleep early.
another important thing you will be in need to do six but he will be rarely need to do it......so what you will do at this time.
please think properly then decide what you want.

If it's wrong for your friends then they're free to never pursue it in their own lives, but they have nothing to say about what's right or wrong for you....Only you get to make that call.
