Culture and Civilisation are important for mankind. Social customs and manners create culture and that result in a civilisation. Once upon a time, sex was not a taboo. Being single was acceptable too. The result was sexual anarchy and sexually frustrated singles. So the society decided that there must be a control. In a marriage, not only the couple but the families and the community started involving. This gave some discipline in sexual life; a commitment for family life too.
Your so called " Broad minded people" have sex as freely as they wish ( I cannot say "as animals" because they have sex only for the purpose of reproduction and not for pleasure.)and being single also causes so many social problems plus mental stress for the single in due course.
The world is going towards sexual anarchy. Bastards are born in plenty. Divorces happen in abundance. Better not to go into further details.
Indian culture has been good so far. But now there is definitely cultural invasion. Let us face it because we are broad minded.

No this notion has changed in India now.Having sex is no longer considered a taboo but most girls still do value their personnal privacy as aform of self respect.Large percentage of girls try to avoid sex till marriage but this percentage is gradually decreasing due to 'pull' of a permissive society.Remaining single especially for girls is also no longer a taboo as society doesnot ridicule such things these days as they did in the past.It is a very personnal chioce and most carreer girls dont scumb to family pressure and parents also are more understanding.

Having sex outside of marriage is certainly a taboo in India.Remaining single or unmarried is neither taboo nor looked down in either rural or urban societies Unmarried mothers and unmarried couples are certainly not approved here.
