i think women do more worrying once they're in a relationship and men do more of it before the relationship begins (i can be wrong here, but i'm a girl and that's the way i've always seen it).
when men are interested in a woman they just check whether this woman has important traits they want/long for in a girlfriend and then when they get together with a woman, they hope she won't change.
women on the other hand fall in love, let their emotions lead them at first and start evaluating the other person once they're in the relationship. in my opinion, that's why most women (myself not included) try to change their man: because they start noticing little flaws that they didn't consider at first and they think that if they "fix" these things they'll have the perfect guy.

Because women (in general) are more emotional by nature and worrying comes with the package. People who are less emotional tend to worry less as that's an emotion.

However, some women don't worry much at all, and some men are worry-warts. Some people make up things to worry about as they don't seem content unless they are fretting over something.
