I hear some christians say God dose not want you to be smart or different...
When many talk about God and the fear of hell, it sound like they are inspired by the devil.
I know many christians love and care (this is why I am Christian myself), but there are still many who hate and think they are following God when they follow the Devil into internal fear of damnation.
Are some Christians blindly following the devil?

The God and Devil are metaphors for love and fear.
Why do the Christians, who should love, fear the lord.
Could this be a metaphor for 'Fearing love?'

If you imagine for a minute that there is no god and no satan,
then why some christians behave as they do, might be
easier to explain.
Religious nuttiness.
I am not putting all believers in the stupid/deluded category -
only those who spend too much time thinking of sin, hell, satan, christ -
the moderate ones who are spending their time on goodness, helping other, accepting modern science and taking the bible as useful metaphors, symbols, maybe useful guidelines too,
those are the ones worth meeting and discussing with.
for all the other here - please get a life - and an education -
and stop spending too much of your life thinking of hell and sin -- it is just plain stupid -

You seem to be saying that the Christians who are that more for the Fear of Hell than for the Love of God are worshipping Satan instead. It does not seem logical as Hell is the Devil's Heaven. If they are afraid of going there, then worshipping Satan is the last thing they would want to do as they know its a sure ticket to get there.
Fearing God is natural or should be. He's the one thats going to judge you and decide whether you continue to live or not. The more you know that you have a struggle to make the grade, the more afraid you are of the result. That does not make them less of a Christian and fear is a good spur to make them a better one and so is love.
They both work for God and more to the point, He wants both, they are opposite sides of the same coin that is you..

i think that some are misguided in there fear of hell, i dont think that means they are necisarily following the devil. we should to a certain extent fear hell, but more than that we should grieve because we have sinned against and infite Holy God who hates sin but has in mercy continued to let us live. Now, that said, God wil eventually demand and acount of every thought word and deed done in darkness. His standard will be the Commandments, so lets go thru a few and see how you do. (this will help make sense of hell and ZJustice)
have you ever told a Lie? ever stolen something? ever looked with lust? ever used Gods name in vain?if we have one these things then by our own admission, were lying theiving blapshemous adulturers at heart.God being Holy and Just as he is, will demand accuont, and he says in his own word that lying lips are an abomination too him, and that he will not hold guiltess those who use his name in vain. God is a merciful God but he is serious about sin. The Justice (hell) we deserve would be the right thing for God to give us, but he is merciful, he sent his only son to die for us, we broke the Law and jesus paid our fine, now our sentance before God can be commuted based upon jesus death. If we dont undertsand Gods Justice, then Hell is unreasonable,But when we look at Gods standard and how depraived we are, then hell makes sense. Jesus died for us, if we will repent (turn from sin) and trust in jesus we will be forgiven and granted the gift of everlasting life. Dont miss this salvation today, tomorrow may not be.
God Bless

True Christians Worships God, Make believers christians worship anything, The reason we are to fear God, Is not because we are christians, We are to fear him if we backslide. Why should we fear God if we are a true cheistian, That is what Jesus Christ died for was for our sins, but many only uses Jesus name in a formoailty.

Fearing God does not mean to be afraid of Him...fear can also be reverent awe. If a christian has hate in them, it would be time to examine one's self...
*2 Corinthians 13:5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?
When you are born again, you become a NEW creature in Christ Jesus. Old things are passed away...
*2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
If someone is following the devil, they are not christian. The word christian means...follower of Christ. A christian has NO fear of damnation...
*John 5:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
We have passed from death to life and Jesus says we HAVE everlasting life.
I hope this helps.

I think people of today - even Christians - take the directive " ... fear the Lord ... " out of context. Today we think of fear as being afraid, distressed, anxious ... and so forth. We've really lost a lot of what words meant long ago!
Biblically speaking, to 'fear the Lord' means to regard Him with 'reverential awe' ... basically, it means to hold Him in your heart above all others, to exhault Him higher than your own earthly parents; it NEVER meant to be afraid of Him, or of what He could do to you ... although that might not be such a bad idea, if you are evil!
But as far as being so ... terrified of God that you can't stand OR think straight ... I'm not!!! I LOVE God ... my heart is filled with AWE whenever I think of Him ... and - besides holding myself to higher standards and doing my BEST to live the Word the way it's meant to be lived - I think that's all He wants!!!

Batgirl, God has instructed you to be stupid and subserviant. Please read your bible.
> Where did you hear anyone say that God does not want you to > be smart or different? I don't believe it.
I Corinthians 3:18-20. Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness. And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain.
As for being different, Jesus insists throughout the bible that you must obey him, or else be cast into the unquenchable fire where there is much gnashing of teeth.
Nice guy, huh?

Of course, christians are worshiping God and going away from satan but false christians are following the wrong path with satan Others have faith in another God who is not the true living God who is in heaven. They worship idols and images made of stone or wood or papers and plastics who have eyes b ut could not see, have ears but could not hear, have mouth but could not talk have feet but could not move.

I do not understand What is your point of view. Let he who wants to fear God fear God, with or without Hell. Let him who serves God for Love do it for love, for every seed grows in different grounds and every tree has its won characteristics. For fear or love what counts is the fruition.
