In 1976 an Explorer wrote in his book titled 'Among the Dervishes', that on his travels he came across a cult sect of about 1000 people in Herat in NW Afghanistan. They were devotees of a man known as YUZ-ASAF ( translated as 'leader of the those he cured of leprosy') but Yuz-asaf was given as a title, they named him as ISA MASI son of Maryam. The proclaimed he was a Prophet of Israel who had travelled from the east and settled in Kashmir.
This story runs along side the tradition that Jesus actually escaped the crucifiction. It has been brought to light that there is other evidence.

could this person and Jesus be one of the same? it would give credibility to the Islamic version of Jesus' life, so! How important is this evidence? what repercussions would this have on Christianity, which is based solely around the Atonement of the Passion of Christ?

this is not my opinion, it is just another way of looking at the life of Jesus; who is to say what is right and what isn't? we don't know, but what we do know is that the Christian version of Jesus' life is flawed, it is full of contradictions and discrepencies, the entire christian faith is not even based on the teachings of Jesus, it is based on the visions of Saul of Tarsus. The fact that these writtings and other evidence exists, makes the reader ask questions, this is the reason for posting this question. different perspectives and different interpretations are the key to finding the truth, one opinion and one perspective is ignorant and bias when interpreting historical events. Any historian who does not gain different perspectives is not an historian at all, just a story teller (Eusebius for example)

Ampreasearch@; this evidence is from the 2C, many centuries b4 the teachings of Mahomet. This fact makes your answer invalid!

Very interesting indeed! Worth a good looking into by those with the ability to do the footwork and verify all the evidence--it appears that messianic cults proliferated in the Middle East during those days, but owing to the lack of positive information about any one of them, anything is possible!
It sure is more credible than a dude getting crucified and then coming back and doing parlor tricks before making a grand exit. (Yes folks, now if you'll look to the East you'll see our messiah--yes that's right the man of the hour--JESUS---as he makes his ascension heavenward and would you just look as his vintage style--arms spread outward beatific look on his face, and for the mystical-minded the blood trailing to the Earth beneath him making what is sure to be called for centuries the "red ribbon of the ascent"--sure to be a money maker for generations--who knows, they might even name a religion after him! Back to you Howard! blah, blah, blah!).
As to what the implications of this are for believers, I doubt that it will shake the foundations of faith for many--not that it shouldn't, but the Dead Sea scrolls contain more than just a few remarks that should have proven quite deadly to the Catholic faith, as did the Gospel of St. Thomas. Those of faith just shrugged them off and kept right on believing in the same old garbage--most of which is more recent additions to their sainted book than many of them realize!
But then again modern geology has provided mountains of evidence in support of it's thoeries over and over and quite a few of them refute the possibility of many biblical claims. You're not going to change the mind of the "saved" just by throwing reality and more likely explanations at them--even though, were I a believer, I think I would want to keep an open mind to newer possible explanations and findings on the life of the one whose teachings I held so dear--but then as you pointed out it's reallly more aboutr the letters of Paul, than the Gospels of Christ anyway, so maybe the religion should be "Paulianity" (of course, the modern Christian faith is called "Pauline" Christianity).
Good question--sure to rowl the masses--but then you seem to be quite adept at that! Definitely a star question! Later, man!

This evidence could be detroyed being St.Paul or St.John destiny due to the evidence is not good to the religious and the proof will destroy the creator. There is an evidence written in the Tibet temple; a westhern man came to Tibet to learnt dharma 14 years and went back to westhern was called Isac Budhi satva. It considered to be Jesus budhi satva. The proof is not important. The meaning of Jesus learnt dharma before he created the christian and used his miracles power.

Quite possible,
I feel there is much information around that shows "Gods love" in the world, in more places than we "know".
To me, it is all "history" and I prefer to live in this moment, keep my energy and head in this moment, so I don't miss "the now".
The "love that passeth all understanding" is the point of the life of Christ", and would be the same for all whether Buddha, or many of the eastern adepts.
I can remember "doing my research" years ago now, and I see now, I could have used that time "better" in mastering the mind, rather than "raking through it"
All the best to you and your enquiries, may you find peace in the heart.

As salaamu 'alaikym, my friend.
Insha'Allah, a very interesting site. I thank you for making this known to me.
Insha'Allah, the truth of this matter is known only to Allah, Subhanna wa Ta'ala. As a Muslim, I will follow the revelations and teachings of the Holy Qur'an, the Sunna al Hadiths and the life example of the Prophet Muhammad (sallaahu 'alaihi wasallaam), while revering the Prophet Essa (sallaahu 'alaihi wasallaam) and all of the prophets and messengers of Allah, Subhanna wa Ta'ala (radi Allah anhum).
Insha'Allah, in many aspects, this site seems to point out the truth of Islam, which we Muslims already know and believe.
May Allah, Subhanna wa Ta'ala, in His endless Mercy, Compassion and Kindness, guide all who truly seek the truth to the same during out journey back to Him.
Ma'a salaam.

Why don't we let the past be the past and stop looking for new ways to reconstruct it by coincidences and man's brain to keep contemplating questions such as "what if?" Some people cannot let go and try to find flaws in certain people's death and new motives that come to light all of a sudden.

Ouch, judging by some of the answers you got from the Christians, It looks like it burns.
Whoops I just did a funny ( Exorcist).
It sounds very interesting and it would not surprise me the least if it was found to be true. At lest then everyone will see the Bible is as phony as those who wrote it.
Very good question Silver.

to the muslim above me this does not really explain that islam is true because of the fact jesus could have lived and not neen executed, it just throws the whole christian religion into chaos just because jesus might have lived does not make mohammed a true prophet it would just make thier story of jesus correct. i dont know there is not enough to go on here to prove that this guy was jesus but it is interesting and makes you wonder doesn't it thats why i have given you a star
