with litigation becoming such a national sport and the seeming rise of food recalls I'd be afraid to answer the door or let the kid out, people I know are the only ones they see around here ,just wondered what other folks did in their town?

Yes! I live in Buffalo, and we still trick or treat. The nice neighborhoods even go all out, and lots of kids go. It would be a shame to see such a fun tradition get eaten up by society today!

Not in mine. It's illegal. Just because it's the last day of October doesn't mean the curfew, loitering, solicitation, trespass laws are suspended. I think it's good as at least in my area we don't have to worry about kids getting poisoned and property being vandalized. Some churches and community centers will be having genuine parties with food and beverages and games and prizes for best costumes all free of charge or a very small fee - like two dollars a person which isn't bad for pizza, fries, cake and ice cream and the music and fun and prizes. That's the way to do it.

Trick or treat, smell my feet, give me something good to eat. Well if you're afraid of giving out edible items you can hand out like those $1 coupons from McDonalds or little plastic toys that you can buy at like Walmart pretty inexpensively. If your afraid out taking your child to trick or treat then just take them to houses of people you know or many times your neighborhood, church or workplace might have like a Halloween fair where they have treats and games for the kids that may prove to be much safer.

Yes they do. I live in a village of about 550 people and everyone knows each other. We usually get a couple hundred of the little goblins every year. It is allot of fun to see the cute little ones. (And the hot young mommies always look delicious)

Yes they do, but I wish they didn't. And yes I did when I was little. I wish it could be banned. Or better still, have a big party for the kids and I'll gladly make a donation. As you may have gathered.....I do not like Hallowe'en.

In my town people tend to only take their kids to houses where they know the occupants....bigger kids who trick or treat alone are veiwed as trouble....this is in the U.K....where the tradition is not as prevalent as the U.K.
I will not be taking my child trick or treating....she is 3 and I dont want to parade her among people I do not know...Its a shame really, when she is bigger I will allow her to have halloween parties with school friends etc.

Last year we had a big Halloween Party. A few days before I went to neighbours and asked if we could come to them and gave them "treats" to give to the children.

Yes. And toilet paper the local park and egg cars. It is not amusing. Actually our neighborhood has a Halloween parade type event that encourages parents to bring their kids to instead of actually going door to door

alas, in this day and age there are fewer and fewer children trick or treating here .Most parents will only take them to houses of people they know. Our town holds a halloween party, children can dress up and still get treats
