Oh My this is a great question and one that is easily answered but it's not easy to fix the problem. there are so many religions and so many people belive so strongly in how they was raised to believe and this is what they know, trust to. It tells us in the Bible in the end days the true religion will be taught thoughout the whole world. You know religion does not have to be all about I am this religion and I will do this or that because this is how I am taught. What if someones religion teaches them to hate. Is this right? We know right from wrong. We know how to treat eachother and we should do this. We are all in this together. Together we stand and devided we fall. This is what is happening. It's time to just go back to saying I know this person does not believe like I do. But we both know what is right and what is wrong. So we should follow this religion and this is the truth and the light. Doing the right thing even though it might be hard and not doing wrong things. God Bless you to.

Back in the "early days" of Christianity, there was no separation of church and state. There was a need to control the people, so the leaders did so with using the bible and God's wrath as means of controlling them. Most people were illiterate back then and they believed what was told to them. Later on, things were changed to make it fit with what was being taught.
I don't know alot about other religions, but I would think it was very similar...controlling the masses.
Religion itself is not a problem in society, fighting over who is "right" IS!

I truly believe that religion is a BIG problem in society. It has always been. Even in Jesus' day, the religious leaders were pompous, self righteous, and thought highly of themselves. Religion is a divider among believers and it is sad. It doesn't matter what denomination, what church, what position, etc. What matters is your belief in Jesus and His shed blood on the Cross of the sins of mankind. Don't get wrapped up in the politics of religion. God Bless.

No, religion is not the problem. Confused, and deceived and disrespecting and unsatisfied people are the problems with humanity and society. People wanting to change their born and breed God for someone elses god. Tricks of the devil and these people will face the real God one day. People should never turn from what their taught and born into. The Bible speaks about this very issue.

Some people blame all the worlds ills on religion, however , it was religion that lead to the rise of community and civilization as well as the laws that govern those communities. Its the people that try to literally divorce faith from politics that have made our world a worse place to live. If you take it away, you have high crime, more poverty and basic anarchy!
PS. I'm not even religious, but smart enough to realize the role its played in our past as humans.

People are misled by religion because most religions are misleading. Horus ... sun god of ancient egypt 3000bc, born of a virgin, died on a cross, 3 days later raised from the dead... Dionysus... same exact story... Jesus ... same exact story.
Religion is misleading because it is created by man. The bible was written and translated numerous times by the hands of MEN. The story of Moses is identical to that of the epic of Gilgamesh.Parts of the modern bible were plagiarized from ancient egyptian religious writings and the concept of christianity is modeled after ancient egyptian religion. The Vatican controls the catholic church.... need I remind anyone that it was the roman catholic church that tortured and killed millions of people to further their cause during the Spanish Inquisition and the great crusades. There is NOTHING holy about war and killing and torture. A merciful god does not force others to believe in him under penalty of torture, death, or burning in hell for eternity. Christianity was designed Specifically to control the masses. What a shock to discover that of the numerous historians alive during the time of Jesus, NOT ONE OF THEM mentioned him in the history books. Given that the story of Jesus is IDENTICAL to that of Horus (3000 years before Christ) it stands to reason that neither of them ever existed. They are what is known as 'solar dieties' ...in other words the worship of the Sun, anthropomorphized (put into human form).

It is because many people could not understand the bible as in Daniel.
Dan 12:10 Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.
Religion is no problem in humanity if we only follow the law of God and will obey God.

Let me answer this from a Christian perspective. Yes, religion is a big problem. If one believes the teachings of the Bible, then there exists both God and Satan. God's desire is for us to come to know Him, and has provided a mechanism for us to do so (through faith in Jesus). Satan, however, does not want us to know God (the reasons are far too complex for this short answer). So, Satan provides mankind with all sorts of false things to believe in, to keep us from knowing God. Thus, there is a "good" religion, which leads us to God, and there are "bad" religions, which lead us away from God.

Like any radical thing (politics included) that swings power and influence, it is a BIG problem.
But like all social movements...the problem is often invisible to those on the inside...
How many soldiers go to war thinking either that God or their Glorious Nation's Leader is on their side....
Same effect.
As 10 to one (above)~ demonstrates:
"People should never turn from what their taught and born into."
I wonder what religion he/she was born into and taught? And would it have been different if they had been born and taught somewhere else...
Some people cannot see this.
