I have to do a talk in class (German) about the increases in prices due to inflation in Germany. And a was wondering whether with Futtermittel they mean animal food. (In the texts I've found they use Futtermittelspreise when they talk about the price-rise of meat)

The term "Futtermittel" refers to animal feeding exclusively.
The difference between "Nahrungmittel" and "Lebensmittel" is a bit more subtle, something for specialists. "Nahrungsmittel" means nutritious thing(s). Coffee or tea f.e. are not really nutritious, but we consume them, too. So they are "Lebensmittel" like all "Nahrungsmittel".
