I'm 21, straight, never been in a relationship with a guy, as I'm afraid it would be too painful if and when it doesn't work.

How can I let go of the influence of my bickering parents, and not let this negative background taint my future love life?

btw... parents are together - i don't live with them, but they always have and continue to argue to the point where I wonder if they love each other. It certainly doesn't show! :(

O sweetie I totally connect with you. I wonder why my parents are still together. I must tell you it is a hard road. I'm 21 also and my current boyfriend I have been with for over a year but still find myself being cynical. I know its very hard for him but he understands (he's met my family). I guess the only thing I could tell you is when you find a guy, you must make it very clear to him that it is going to take a lot of time and patience to break down the wall you have been building your whole life. You need a guy to understand what kind of relationship you've grown up around. When you find a guy that is willing to do that, you'll see he is worth your time and effort and you'll start to ease up. Hope that helps!
