He is 7months old and had his op 2 days ago. He is recovering fine but every now and again he really looks like he still has testes. The sac is empty but a bit further forwards he keeps getting definate testicle looking shapes!! Is this normal swelling or is the guilt making me insane???

If the lumps you see and on the length of his penis under the skin, These are not testes, It will be his bulbous penis. When dogs mate, they "lock on" the bulbous penis it what locks on as it enters the female. De sexing does not remove this. only his testes. It is normal, don't stress. He cant mate, If your concerned speak to your vet

I think the swelling is normal. When I had my Jack Russell neutered there was quite a bit of swelling. It actually looked larger than before the operation. Then the swelling began to go down and now you can't even tell where his testes were.

Just give it a little time and keep an eye on him.

Good job for taking such good care of your baby.

Firstly, don't be guilty.. if you didnt have him neutered he might be fathering lots of unwanting mothers! Secondly, it is most probably swelling from where they actually cut through the vein to the testicle. I highly doubt your vet would have left the testicles in your little doggy! Hope he recovers soon, and chill out everythings fine! If you do have any worries, just ring up your vet i'm sure they are happy to help :)

If you are referring to a swelling at the bottom of his penis, that goes away and comes back, it is normal. My dog had it too after he was neutered. It is a kind of erection, it is not swelling due to the operation. He'll be fine.
