Is it safe to worship the ancient powers?
Have any neopagans and wiccans and others ever considered that it might be a better thing to let certain of the ancient powers and spirits and daimons quietly fade into oblivion rather than disturb them?

Well its disturbing over half of you either didnt understand the. question thought I was attacking paganism or thought I was a pagan .
I am asking a question about the ethics of magic not advocating using magic or paganism.
I am not advocating necromancy or labelling pagan gods as demond.
Scroll up and reread the question!
I typed CERTAIN powers.
Think about why I used an INDEFINITE FORM?
Some people need to spend more time studying semantics and grammar!

Terry Pratchett's Small God's got into that a bit. It seems the less we pay attention to the ancient powers and spirits the smaller they become. So my question is, which ones do we want around today?...:)

jim morrison said in an american prayer "lets reinvent the gods all the myths of the ages, celebrate symbols from deep elder forests." im not sure what could all be acomplished by obeying this act but you are correct if pandora's box was ever laid to rest. people like this have brought it back all at once for an ununderstanding generation to endure.

Disturb them? You mean like when Christians forced conversion by the sword?
To seriously answer your question, no. LOL safe? You act as if they gods are evil. Our gods are NOT Christian's demons. They aren't dangrous. This isn't The Craft or Charmed. It's as safe as any other religion in the world.

My grandad, who I stay with a lot out in the country, is a Witch and he is so Pagan you would not believe.. He is dedicated to his Pagan Gods, but they are only just energy from the Universe.. He says that no matter what you believe in here on Earth, it matters not, as when we die we are all taken back to where we came from, no Heaven, no Hell, that is just a point of view, which was invented years ago..

I think there is only one God, but God has many names and faces. No matter who one worships, if unconditional love is at the root of the religion, they are worshiping that one mother/father God.

If your talking about messing with spirits your not referring to Wicca. What your referring to is Necromancy. Necromancy is not something to be tampered with. It's down right dangerous. Necromancy is all about opening up gates between the world we see and the world of the dead. Necromancy is used to do witchcraft to get the dead to do your bidding. It's not something I would recommend tampering with.

Why would I want my gods to fade into oblivion? That just doesn't make any sense.
