Our life will be displayed before our eyes as if it were a 3-D movie... every detail, thought and motive. We will also be shown the consequences of each action, how it helped or hurt others, how other thought or felt about what we did to or for them. We will be shown how accountable we were, whether we knew the truth, what was right or wrong, did we know what was written in the books. We may be asked what we did with our lives, how we used the precious time we were given.
We will also behold what Jesus did for us, the nail scarred hands, the awesome love. Some will behold how they slapped away those nail scarred hands, how they trampled the chance that He gave them to repent and turn to Him and be forgiven. Others will behold how they accepted Him and while yet unworthy will embrace the Love He gave them.
So for some, the ignorant, they will be judged with much grace and mercy. Innocents such as infants and little children will all be saved by grace alone.
For the righteous they will be judged with much reward, as in the reward of joy and eternal happiness.
For the accountable who willfully rebelled and remained in their wickedness... eternal guilt and shame for all the hurt the caused others, for slapping away the hands of Christ, for rebelling against the truth when they had it available.
Rev. 20: 12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
Matt. 25: 30 And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Matt 25:34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
Luke 12: 48 But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.

There are actually seven different judgments listed in the Bible so it depends on who you are and what judgment you face. An earlier answer mentioned the most important two, the judgment seat of Christ where believers are judged for their works and are given rewards. All genuine believers in Jesus Christ will be there. We will not be judged for sin, because that judgment was finished at the cross of Christ. At the Great White Throne judgment all unbelievers will be there and will be judged for their sins, because they were not dealt with at the cross of Christ. They will all be found guilty and cast into hell. There is also a judgments of the nations, judgment of Satan etc.

There are 2 judgments for the dead. The Great White Thrown Judgment, where God judges the dammed before they go to hell. And then there is the Judgment Seat of Christ, where Jesus judges the Christians to give them their rewards for the work they did for Him while on Earth.

We will be judge by the most fair and moral Judge possible. The good that you have done will be fairly balanced with the bad. Your character will be taken into account and the verdict will be an appropriate one. God is a constructive and reasonable God, Bad people will not be tortured and given eternal hopelessness, but will be put though a rough rehab program to straighten them out. God will be a God, one can be very proud of.

The only thing I remember being said about it in the new testament is that we will be judged as we judge others, and with the same kind of measure.

The manner or how we shall be judged will differ from individual to individual.
Thus people who have not been exposed to the good news and remain ignorant about the Bible, God, Christ, etc -- shall be judged according to their consciences and the works they have done. This is found in Romans 2:12-16 or so.
The ones who have been sufficiently exposed to the good news will be judged upon their reaction to this.
Christians will be judged by their obedience or disobedience to the word, the commands that Christians were given.

1 John 2:3-5, And hereby we know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. 4He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him; 5but whoso keepeth his word, in him verily hath the love of God been perfected. Hereby we know that we are in him: 6he that saith he abideth in him ought himself also to walk even as he walked. (ASV)

Apostle Paul told an audience in Athens: “[God] has set a day in which he purposes to judge the inhabited earth in righteousness by a man whom he has appointed, and he has furnished a guarantee to all men in that he has resurrected him from the dead.” (Acts 17:31) That “man” is the Lord Jesus Christ. His resurrection is a guarantee of the resurrection of the dead, as Paul wrote to his fellow minister Timothy: “I solemnly charge you before God and Christ Jesus, who is destined to judge the living and the dead, and by his manifestation and his kingdom.”—2 Tim. 4:1; 1 Cor. 15:12-19.
Jesus Christ can judge all mankind, including the resurrected dead, because of purchasing the human race by his ransom sacrifice. He said: “Just as the Father raises the dead up and makes them alive, so the Son also makes those alive whom he wants to. For the Father judges no one at all, but he has committed all the judging to the Son, in order that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He that does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him. And he has given him authority to do judging, because Son of man he is. Do not marvel at this, because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life, those who practiced vile things to a resurrection of judgment. I cannot do a single thing of my own initiative; just as I hear [from the Father], I judge; and the judgment that I render is righteous, because I seek, not my own will, but the will of him that sent me.”—John 5:21-23, 27-30.
Having been a perfect man on earth as was Adam, who lost life for the human race, Jesus Christ is the “Son of man.” He stands in the position of blood relative and repurchaser, as foreshadowed by the Law. He can repurchase humankind and thereby deliver them from the bondage to sin and death, even from the grave.—Lev. 25:47-49; Rom.5~14

We will be judged only on one point. Did we receive the sacrifice of Jesus as our own, and follow after Him. That is it. Not whether you are good or bad. Everyone is evil. So he died in our place.
