C_F_45 has some good suggestions but you must be cautious because there are hundreds of 1911 manufacturers out there. I would hate to see you buy a Llama or a Rock Island because the price was right, just to find it fall apart after a couple of boxes of ammo. Charles Daly is another cheapo. Taurus is inexpensive but I have heard good things about them. You may consider getting the 1911 that you want and then having it gold plated where you want by a gunsmith or some sort of shop that specializes in metal plating.

It's going to cost you $100 in FFL transfer fees, shipping costs and taxes if you buy a gun online - and thats not including the price of the gun itself. There is no way you can find a 9mm for under $100 unless you have a connect. Even then, the piece they will sell you will be defective (gangbangers don't know how to clean guns) and dirty (reported stolen, used in previous crimes, serial number on file).

There is only one way you will purchase one cheap, the person selling it is in desperate need of $$$$$$$.* You could buy a used one reasonable if you are patient.*

The cheapest 9mm Hi-point I have seen online is $109, but you have to be a dealer to buy one. I have NEVER seen a used Hi-point. They are the Yugo of firearms and rarely outlast one user.

You can't get one cheap anymore. It's the internet age son. Everybody knows what everybody else is selling them for, margins are slim, and nobody is going to cut his own throat to sell a few buck cheaper.

Gold markings? If you want a custom gun, you have to pay the price.
