that's why he/she is bringing the "good news" to you, and at the same time condemns you and the others to hell?

isn't that hypocrisy at its best being revealed to your face by these Bible-fundies?

Oh my... I have to tell you a funny story. I was out and about yesterday, when two people approached me in a public area and asked if I had "heard the good news?" Well... I stopped in my tracks, took a long...calm pause... and softly asked: If I don't believe in your god, will I go to hell?

They hemmed a bit and didn't want to say, but I softly asked again. They finally, reluctantly, affirmed their belief...

I looked at them and said... "then you are sent by Satan and not by Christ," and I walked away. My spouse was cracking up, I actually dead-panned it! We're still chuckling this morning...

It depends on the Bible-fundie in question. Some of them are very genuine lovely people and I have no problem with them, I may not share their beliefs but I can appreciate their devotion and compassion.

Of course some of them are not like that at all and what they're really saying is "I'm better than you, do it my way or else" and those do make the skin crawl whatever they are saying.

When I first went away to college, I was the only one from my area on that campus. I was lonely. A boy in my German class smiled at me across the room a couple days in a row. After class he would make a friendly comment.

I was thrilled that someone noticed me and was making an offer of friendship.

Then, Monday after class he asked if he could walk with me, shyly I smiled and said yes. He said he'd been wanting to talk with me. My heart gave a little leap. Then he pulled a Bible tract out of his pocket and handed it to me and began something about whether or not I knew Jesus, etc.

He didn't speak to me again. I noticed he was smiling at another girl in class. I felt so hurt and betrayed, and ashamed. Here I had thought maybe someone cared about me as a person, cared to be my friend. But I was just another notch on his "how many people did you tell about Christ" pole.

I felt invisible and worthless, not precious and loved by Christ or his faithful following.

In the words of a very lovely song "dont' tell them Jesus loves them, till your willing to love them too."

That's your interpretation, I guess.

Not being a fundie, my interpretation would be more like saying that there is an alternative to condemnation in hell (I'm trying to be as un-Pascal as I can at 3AM, sorry). Whenever I minister, I never mention hell--unless the other person brings it up. It does more harm than good to do so, I've found.

Yeah; it makes my skin crawl especially when I recognise the hypocrisy with this whole 'god is love' fiasco.

In a nutshell, the ONLY reason fundies 'love their god' is cos if they don't suck up to him he'll send them to hell; they FEAR him - xianity is a FEAR driven religion.

Yeah; it makes my skin crawl.
I suppose their god loves all the starving innocent children in Africa TOO.

Well put tango keep it up. Bible-fundies are self center they think they are true faith and argue almond themselves about faith. They hate to be wrong. They don’t know how to love. I will never base my faith on opinions or self interpretation without facts. ONY THE CATHOLIC CHURCH HAS FACTS AND EVEDENCE. Let me give you prefund logic. Jesus love the world gave himself by dying for the world on the cross. Showing it was possible to die for one another. To be protestant (Bible-fundies), it is not the way of Jesus Christ. To die for others is die one self and stop talking and lesion to others.

at right here: the day gone by actual life: in a So.B church interior the Bible Belt quite a few years in the past. the actual one purely stopped as quickly as I left the church. right here? if it gets too undesirable and you experience too abusive you are able to block them. i've got purely performed that to 2 people, no longer unavoidably a fundie.

In all honesty, the real reason for saying that they love you is that they would love to make points on you for "winning another soul for Christ"...!!! Their reward and recognition in Heaven is so tempting!

As marketing goes, nothing beats Christianity! Islam falls far behind any half way intelligent person...

No, it makes my skin crawl when I see someone use the phrase "Bible-fundie" to describe someone.
