I was in the female rest room last night at the Sheraton and someone asked me for my perfume. I politely refused since the perfume I have is a Chanel No 7 and presented to me by a close friend. I used to offer to spray it on or give it to them earlier but last night is the first time I refused.

What would you have done?

Its not about the perfume just that they say never to lend or borrow. Especially personal things. This is a woman thing so men if you wanna say something you know say it. Or else - Don't

I am curious as to who it is that says not to lend or borrow?
it is extremely polite to do just that. Where I live it is concidered neighborly.
Now I can understand it if the person asking to borrow the perfume for a spray or two repeatedly asks. Then i would of had to done the same as tyou in that case. If not, then why not? The lady probably liked the scent, and wanted to see how it would smell on her.
Chanel doesn't really cost that much either. So why nor share? I'm sure she wouldn't have used half the bottle. Good thngs happen to those who do unselfish things.
Have a great day :-)

You have all the right to refuse. If they like perfume so much, they should have sprayed themselves at home before going out. Asking to borrow from you is just because they thought you would say yes, and they take whatever is free. Tell them to bring their own.

it depends on who the person is...if they are the sort of person that u know asks all the time for a spray of ur expensive stuff then it is absolutely alright to refuse polietly...but if its a well to do person who needs it for a genuine reason and u can afford to spare some then go ahead and share a spray or two...to avoid being in a situation where u r asked by a stranger to share some perfume go into a private cubicle and spary urself so that noone sees the bottle and hence doesn't ask for some...

I think this was a test of faith. Even though it seems off scale for someone to ask to borrow perfume, what does Jesus say? Mathew 5:42 That Woman was put there for a reason.

Even if she had only asked about it and enjoyed it, I would have granted her request by taking a tissue and putting a little bit of the perfume on it for her to use as she wished and she could've left the tissue in a nice place in her bra [or pocket...LOL] to have that fragrance linger for her enjoyment!
[hey, maybe she needed a 'lift' of confidence?]

Also, I would've told her how much it cost and where she could buy it! That way, neither she nor I won't have the problem of her DROPPING it and it is polite manners towards a stranger and I would have control over my perfume. TA-DA, simple! [other cosmetics, NO WAY!!! ]

Wow, that was kind of mean... One spray would not have hurt anyone...
Remind me that when I run into you while you start stinking like cheese on a hott date to tell you no, you cannot borrow my hypnotic by Dior. $180 a bottle, but I share it with whoever. If someone is desperate enough to ask for another womans perfume then THEY really need it.

Youre mean... That girl got back to her room and he date left her because she smelled like a horse...

I think it's a bit cheeky to ask someone if they can use your perfume. Still it takes all sorts.
Regarding letting her borrow it, as it is not touching the skin and only a squirt it doesn't hurt to accommodate her. She probably forgot to take her own. So it's nice gesture really. But I still can't believe 'she asked'

You went about it the right way in my opinion.

Asking to borrow some stranger's perfume is not something that I would ever do. Some people are just weird. :)

I'd have given her a spray, but I'm just generous like that. I figure if one spray of perfume makes someone happy then I'll be happy to do it, especially if they asked nicely.
