it down to sleep paralysis, funny how, " In the name of Jesus, go", worked for me every time, and also for others. Is this a paralysis of the mind? I've also had the opposite experience, a visistation of what i took to be an angel, who sat on my bed and held my hand, folowed by a magical experience, one of leaving my body and floating upwards, accompanied by a sensation of leaving all worldly cares behind. It seemed to be the polar opposite of the crushing experience. These dreams were distinct from any other 'normal' dreams, they seemed real.

P.S. I have a recurring dream of being at school and being very worried that I've run out of time to finish a project, either a history project or art project - both my favourite subjects. I also realise that I haven't attended a single class all year and have no timetable. I'd love some ideas from people, as it's apparent my subconcious is trying to tell me something.

Well, the idea of someone or some "thing" sitting on your chest is called a hypnagogic state, basically the body falls asleep before the mind does, so you get the sensation that someone is on you or trying to hurt you. But its not that at all.

Others believe that this state is simply the process of you 'feeling' yourself trying to leave your body to go into dream land. They view dreams as a state of astral projection where you leave your body and go play in astral never never land. So when the feeling of being "trapped" occurs, its due to your spirit trying to enter/exit your body but not being able to completely, and going through a "in/out" mechanism. The brain interprets this the only way it knows how, and thus the feeling of "heaviness" or "paralysis"

Now Im not trying to negate your spiritual beliefs. But by saying "In the name of Jesus, go" you basically allow yourself to "snap" out of it, its your 'release' mechanism. You have found your talisman, and thats why it works. So as long as you know how to get out of the state, good for you.

Now the recurring dream that you have had....about going to school and not being prepared, is SUCH a common dream.

What does it mean? Well when we experience any recurring dream, its our spirit's way of waving a yellow flag at us, saying "Hey!! Pay attention!!!" And we will keep having the dream until we heed the lesson and learn from it.

What this dream is wanting you to know......School is a metaphor for Life. And when we go to class and arent prepared for exam or we arent ready to graduate, it means that in Life, there is a experience we are living through, where we should be "finished" but we're not, for some reason.

Or its telling us that we need to stop trying to "get by" via the skin of our teeth, to stop getting by at all....To start understanding that the only way to "graduate" and move on in life is to learn our lesson. And the only way we can do that is by attending class and then taking the test and passing it. Unfortunately, we cant get a high school diploma if we never show up for class and just expect it to be given to us at graduation, you know?

I hope this helps

I have never heard of sleep paralysis, but I've had some pretty weird experiences in my life,
I saw a woman in my bedroom doorway, and she had a bun on her head, grey hair, lace up type shoes (like the old white roller skates), a mid shin length skirt and blouse, who I have never seen before, I was scared at first, but then just felt calm, I even pinched myself to make sure I was awake, I described her to my mum the next day and she went white and said thats my grandma, who died years before I was born, and no I have never seen her, the only thing I knew about her is that she didn't trust banks, so buried her jewellery under the house in a steel box and that she always had a large bottle of boiled lollies, that my mum and her siblings were allowed to have 2 each, no more, per visit. I have also had the dream that the devil was pushing down on me, my heart was racing and I was terrified, its only happened once and I was so scared that I woke mum up and asked to sleep with her and told her about my dream, and to my horror, she had the same dream, not that night, but she did have it, that freaked me out even more, I often have dreams that come true and its like dejavu,
I even know what someone is going to say before they say it, but not all the time, something is weighing on your conscience, get it off your chest and you'll feel better, I did that and it helped, but I also prayed, I looked up in the bible the part about fears etc., and said those for about a week, I felt better about that too, its very frightening to have these dreams, any wonder that I walk and talk in my sleep, hence I don't sleep in the nuddy anymore, cause last time mum caught me walking out the front door, how embarrassing! About feeling different to other dreams, its cause they are, I remember fighting it and praying constantly until it went away, I kept telling it that my soul belongs to god and he can't have it, but very very scary! I hope yours goes away, mine did, just hang tough and say any prayer that comes to mind, that will make you feel better, and hopefully make the baddies go away, Goodluck!

I read your comment about "the devil sitting on people". There really is no scientific explanation for this phenomenon. But it basically boils down do this. Demons are real and they exist in the spiritual realm where we can not see them, but experience their presence with our own spirit. The feeling of sleep paralysis occurs from the presence of demons being in our vicinity. When demons come into our presence they bring the negative effect of fear with them, which paralyzes them due to fear of the unknown. But people who are familiar with what's at the root of sleep paralysis, know how to rebuke demons before they become overwhelmed by the presence of fear.
