I think BT will only gurantee the line to your first main box only , anything after that is your property and you hav to pay for it , they gave these extensions away free , a long time ago.

I had the same problem. Being promised over and over for a year that they get it done, it never happened. I was getting 0.19 speed on my broadband for a year. Finally I canceled the broadband, they let me off the contract because they couldn't provide me with the broadband service. So there, they rather lose money by letting you go, than to have it fixed.

if tyou have the techy know-how to do it yourself i would suggest that. maplins can provide all the bits and bobs needed i'm sure. my reason why is because our house phone suddenly cut out we phoned BT from our mobiles to report a fault they said if it was a fault from their end there was no cost but if it was ours we'd have to pay 168 quid. anyway the engineer came out and found the fault right away, i left my tool box on the line that ran from the main switchbox under the stairs. he was a very decent bloke and put it down as a BT fault. but we were lucky we got a decent BT engineer.

They'll charge you an arm and a leg to renew them. Get a quote from an in dependant telephone engineer as i have found them to be a lot cheaper than bt

Broadband won't run faster simply because the internal wiring is changed. !
