No timetable has yet been announced for the closure of the FM radio bands, but it probably will happen at some time. The frequencies released from use (around 100 MHz) are not as useful as the TV frequencies (around 500 MHz), so the government will not be so eager to sell them off for other use. IF/WHEN it happens we will all need to upgrade our radios to digital, but hopefully there will be an adaptor like an Ipod transmitter that will be available by then.

No. The digital switc-over only refers to tv signals, and as far as I'm aware, there are no plans to stop FM radio broadcasts.
That said, you can buy DAB ( digital ) radios for your car, but I've never used one.

Its only the tv signal turning to digital, not radio.

Not unless it includes a non-digital television.

There are no plans to stop analogue radio transmissions.
The "Switch Over" applies only to television.
