Wisdom beyond even the wisest of men is a spiritual attribute of the universal educators. Science can be studied by anyone talented enough without any wisdom. A clear example of the lack of wisdom is the projects to which we have applied many stunning scientific discoveries and our ridiculous excuses for doing it. Not to say that Stephen Hawking is unwise, but he is not in the same category as the universal educators of humanity.

Probably. It takes a brilliant mind to visualize some of the things that he does about black holes. I would also argue that he is more of a moral person than the vast majority of religious figures. He spreads his information freely and supports stem cell research.
