You know you're a lady when all you want to do is sit there and scratch your armpits.
But seriously- I have tried a lot of deodorants and I always end up with the same freaking rash. I've gotten a rash so horrid before it went from my chest to down the middle of my arms -- EW! And the pain..!
I have pretty sensitive skin... The only deodorant I can use is Dove's deodorant for sensitive skin, but...(it's silly I know) I don't like the fragrance.
So I've been running everywhere (with itchy pits) looking for a skin-friendly deodorant.

Btw; I heard somewhere that most deodorants are really harsh because they have small deposits of.. mercury in them, or something like that. I heard that most deodorants had tiny bits of that, which is used as an anti-perspirant because it clogs the skin. I guess most skins can handle it.. but my skin is wimpy. :(
Do you know of a more skin-friendly deodorant I could try? Preferably one that smells nice, of course.

.
Try this - it really works and does not stain clothes
Take a fresh lemon and cut off a slice. Rub your armpits with this slice of lemon. You will not smell sweaty all day, but stay fresh and slightly lemony. A completely natural and non allergic solution.

I think it's some sort of aluminum that's in deodorants? Anyway, I had the same problem, and what I started doing was putting deodorant on every other day, or, when I could, every two days. It helped out so much...I don't have the problem at all anymore, and I use regular Dove deodorant. I am not a particularly heavy sweater and do not have a particularly bad odor problem, so if you are like that also, it might help you. What I tried before that that also helped was using an all-natural deodorant...you can get them at health food stores and stuff like that, Whole Foods, etc. I didn't itch, and I didn't smell, but it didn't have any anti-perspirant, and even though I don't sweat a lot, it still made me wetter than I was comfortable with while I was working, so I gave that up and that was when I decided to see how long I could go between applications without having any issues with smell or sweat. So try it out on whatever sensitive-skin deodorant you use now...give it a week or so to make your decision. I hope it works out as well for you as it did for me...the other plus is that, obviously, you will spend half as much money on deodorant :)

I have decided that its not the aluminum that is causing the itch. I thought it was but now know thats not it because a brand called Lady's Choice that is now discontinued never made me itch and had more aluminum than Dove. But Dove along with some others itch me like crazy. The reason I used lady's choice is because I never had an itch problem using it. There must be some other ingredient involved that is culprit.

I have the same problem with deodorants and body washes. There's simply too many to try and rule out all but a few. I wash with Ivory hard bar or with Palmolive. I prefer Ivory but can't always find the equivalent here in France. After I bath and I am dry, using a makeup powder brush, I dust on some corn starch in the pits of my arms. That's it.
It seems to work well for me.

A lot of people are allergic to deodorants, read the label and what's in them, it's scary.
Wash twice a day with dove soap and try and keep clean, you'd be surprised that maybe you don't need deodorant.

I have the same problem but I just recently started having it with the deodorant. I can only shave my armpits every 3 or 4 days because I get the worst razor burn and I go around scratching 'til my fingers hurt and my skin is raw. Honestly.. nothing works.. gel or roll on sorta works but I can't remember because I don't care for the wetness under my arm.. So basically I shove my shirt under my pits so they don't touch and I just suffer.. so I feel your pain!

I experience the same problem, so now have discontinued to use a deodorant.
Instead I carry a small pack of cleansing wipes to use when needed..
Deodorants tend to make your face sweat, as the perspiration has to come out somewhere.

Try using a different deoderent. It is likely you had a reaction to that one. Put some cream on under your arm and if the rash is still there after you change deoderents, see a doctor.

Good luck!
