The playstation being such a powerful machine shouldn't it be able to playx box360 games with a mod?

i mean... if that was possible it would make playstation3 the number one machine in the world... i mean... its a very powerful machine (the playstation3); having a processor more powerful that most current pc's, graphic cards, etc... i mean.. you can run unbuntu in it... and if you can run unbuntu shouldnt you technically be able to play computer games that run on unbuntu on your playstation 3? what does a computer/playstation3 need to be able to play xbox360 cd's or games directly downloaded to the hdd... i mean.. i thought first of the obvious: an emulator of some sort. but maybe thats way to complicated or something...

i mean... if someone says it could be possible i might go buy my play3 tommorrow :P jk... the biggest problem for me is wanting to play halo3... and seems pretty easy to be able to use a xbox360 control in a play3... i mean.. its compatible with a pc, the wireless is wifi (i think) so i would think you should be able to use on ps3 too..

a) obviously xbox wouldn't allow it. i mean.. copyright infringement and w/e.... but playstation dosent have to release the patch so their can be one... you do realize that more than 2 million ppl now have a ps3? how many geniuses do you think thiers in that pack? 10? 50?
b) xbox360 is good but not that good... have you checked the specs on the ps3 and what its all about? xbox360 is third gen console... ps3 is 10th gen console (metaphoric)
c)did you know theirs already a playstation2 emulator for pc?
d) all your answers where partially if not totally out of my question.. i didnt ask you what should i buy.... i asked something else... and i dont think stupidkid knows what hes talking about.. he just dosent think but has no real idea.. he just follows what he has read.. or hasnt... after searching for this on google and stuff i found nothing regarding this problem...

Personally, I don't think it's possible (at least to a playable level)
360 games are optimised to run on that system, so any emulator would have to accomodate this (and even though the processor may be more powerful, the memory allocations, etc are different).
Not only that, but whoever did it would need to have a thorough knowledge of both systems and their operating systems (something that neither MS or Sony would be too willing to give out, and would more likely have to be reverse-engineered, which would take a heck of a long time)
Bear in mind, Sony and MS can't get full emulators for PS2 and Xbox running on their new systems, and they know them inside out.

I'm sure there are people out there trying, and good luck to them, but it may be awhile...

The ps3 allows for a second operating system so yes someone will come up with a way to install and configure the 360 operating system to work with the ps3 hardware... Someone was reported to have done so but they had problems getting some of the games to work...If you can install the right emulator to Lynix operating system (lynix as second operating system) which works great on the ps3 then you can definately play 360 games on it.

Hah just messin', but the PS3 and the 360 are totally different yo. Wouldn't work. Can't even mod that stuff on the uber comps yet.

actually, its because their rivals.....Microsoft(the makers of the x-box) would simply not allow Sony(the makers of the PS3) the create such a patch. It would totally ruin their buisness....i thought anyone could figure that out

i have the wii,360 and ps3 and believe the ps3 is the best. even if it doesnt have halo3, it has more good games!!!the wii is a kid machine,it's for babies, the PS3 just ROCKS!!!
