Im halfway through to get my BS in Mechanical Engineering. My main focus would be The Automotive industry. But I seriously don't know what's out there waiting for me, is there anyone in here who is a mechanical engineering that can give me some aid to visualize the real deal. I have started to question whether i still want to be an engineer, I just keep losing my motivation :(

is there any hope for me: i have a 2.8 GPA and soon will be attending a Cal State University... is there still a bright future waiting for me? or not quite?...

seriuous answers will be greatly appreciated :)

Start job hunting or career hunting now to get leads on promising companies or departments. It all depends on where you want your life to go. Talk to some engineers already in the field you wish to join. Subscribe to engineering magazines. Talk to recruiters at job fairs. Talk to some managers of R and D departments. With the need for eco-friendly cars, trucks and buses, it should be an exciting field in the future....you may want to look into electrical engineering as well or materials science. And the field of bio-engineering is very interesting....engineering from designs found in nature. The History Channel recently ran a story including Marc Andre Meyers, a Ph.D. at UC San Diego, who is developing syringes based on the designs of the proboscis of mosquitoes and cutting tools from the tooth design and construction of piranha fish and rats.
