Please read the Quran. I am a Muslim and I found it to be the best book in this world. It tells us about the creation of this world, human beings and others. It is very scientific too. It is a guidance to all human beings as to why we are being created in this world. Love, tolerance and becoming good is the message that God has given us in the Quran. Read it, please, read it. If possible go to mosques and meet people who can teach you the exact meanings. Cat Stevens, and lots of other people, became a Muslim after reading the Quran. May God, the Most Gracious and Most Merciful, give you guidance while reading the Quran. If possible, try to get the translation of the Quran by Abdullah Yusuf Ali. I found it to be the best and most inspiring. Again, May God, the Most Loving guide everyone to the straight path.

Not the whole Quran. A few Surahs and verses. This dialog I used to be making plans to have with my mum The Quran is a MESSAGE from none rather then the Creator of this Universe and the whole thing in it. There is a message and a religious therapy within it. Reading it in arabic will supply us (non arabic individuals) sawab, definitely But should you dont learn the which means, it is similar to you are ignoring a treasure that might be so conveniently received You must without doubt learn it in English brother :)

You should read it, and also the hindu, buddhist and other texts as well (include the main political ones like "Das Kapital", "Mein Kampe" and "The Prince").
Finding out what is the basis for the beliefs of others is never a waste of time, and even if you then decide you don't agree, its from a position of knowledge rather than ingorant prejudice.
Good luck if you do decide to read them however - some are quite hard going - especially if you don't know the context they were written in.

The fact that you are interesting in reading it simply for the pleasure of it is encouraging, so, read it if you like to read. The ones i feel they SHOULD read it are those that are telling you not to, because they obviously do not understand the value of seeking knowledge.
To those who think reading the Quran is wrong, open your minds, imagine what you would say to a pagan expressing intrest in reading the Bible...

Yes, you should read it...ignorance is for the ignorant. There are some good stories in there, some funny bits, some weird bits...if you just imagine Islam to be what you hear about from Muslim-haters, you'll be very surprised, I think. It's got quite a bit more in common with Christianity than you might imagine.
Edit: With regard to Apostle Jeff's answer...are you kidding me? Do you know anything about the history of Christianity AT ALL??

Prophet Muhammad, Peace Be Upon Him, is a very intelligent man who encourages learning. Consider one of his saying in the the Hadith, "It is better to think for one hour than to pray for 70 years. The ink of a scholar is mightier than the blood of a martyr"
The Quran is a good book. I've done it, and if you ask me, well, just go ahead and read it.

i think you should read it. in todays world a bunch of stupid radical muslims made such a sweet pure religion look so nasty and mean. pay no attention to media, and tv, because every channel, ever news station, ever article is biased. read the Quran and interpret it the way you feel it is. that what religion is... PERSONAL BELIEF. not what your parents believe, not what media believes, not what any "islamic leaders" in iran and other countries believe. if you want to learn about a religion, never learn it from another person. pursue it and you LEARN about it. because words can be interpeted into so many ways. :D

At Your Own Peril. Wise King Solomon wrote: “Take a warning: To the making of many books there is no end, and much devotion to them is wearisome to the flesh.” (Ecclesiastes 12:12) The Bible is sufficient enough, why Contaminate one's mind with Books that Reject Christ as Having Given his life for Mankind?
