If Muhamamd is nt the author then the author is the spirit he spoke with either way the Qu'ran is not ina greement withe the word of God nor the propehts of God as all spirits and prophets must be.

Deut.13: 1 If there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and giveth thee a sign or a wonder,
2 And the sign or the wonder come to pass, whereof he spake unto thee, saying, Let us go after other gods, which thou hast not known, and let us serve them;
3 Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for the LORD your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.

A prophet of God must be in agreement with the words of the prophets and the known word of God.

1John 2: 22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.
23 Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: [but] he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.
24 Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.

1John 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:
3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
5 They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them.
6 We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.
7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.
12 No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.
13 Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.
14 And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.
15 Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.

Anyone who claims to be a prophet of God must agree Jesus is the Christ the Son of God who is our savior.

2 John 1:7 For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist

Gal. 1: 8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

If an angel or a man preach a different gospel he is not of God.

Hadith tells us that Muhammad was illiterate and was unable to read or write. So of course Muhammad did not write Quran. Muslims claim that Muhammad dictated the whole Quran to his followers and many of them memorized the Quranic verses word by word and later they wrote it down. The bottom line is that no one knows for sure who wrote the Quran.

After the death of Muhammad there was a time when Uthman the third Caliph of Islam ordered to burn all the copies of Quran except one. It was believed that there were variations in text and recitation practice of Quran at that time and so Uthman took this step. According to Quran and Hadith, Muhammad was the last prophet of Islam. So Uthman was not a prophet and we do not know whether he kept the valid and original Quran or destroyed it? We also do not know how he determined which one was the correct version of Quran?

Without a prophet how could any one ever know which copy is legitimate or authorized and which one is not?

Muslims say that Bible is not the word of God because it has no known author or that most of the books of the Bible say, "author - unknown". But careful study of the Bible suggests that there are many evidences which indicate that the writers of the Bible were prophets and apostles themselves.
Moses writes instructions for the kings of Israel in Deu 17:18-20,
Joshua confirms that there were written Laws with them which was given by God to Moses. In Joshua 1:7-8
Further we read that Joshua made an altar of the LORD God as it was written in the Book of the Law of Moses in Josh 8:30-31
Joshua also made a copy of the Book of Law when they reached the promised land as we read in Josh 8:32
Further it was confirmed in 2 Chr 17:9 So they taught in Judah, and had the Book of the Law of the LORD with them." And throughout the Bible we read about the confirmation that Bible was written by prophets and apostles who had direct contact with God.

Well, I guess we will never know what was actually written in the Bible since its original text has been changed so many times. Fitted according to who translated it. Unlike the Quran which is still in its original text. And since the prophet was Uneducated, how could he have possibly been the author? He was chosen by God. The prophets before Him was also chosen by God. Unlike some religions Islam believes in all other prophets before Mohammed. Islam doesn't deny their existence or thier message. For the Quran mentions them and their stories.

Consider the following before cocluding.....

" Alcoran [ Quran ] as a standing miracle, since so many persons of singular eloquence did attempt to write the like but could never equal it. "--pg-162,An Account Of The Rise And Progress of MAHOMETANISM with the life of Mahomet, by Henry Stubbe, M.A. of Christ Church-Oxford, from a manuscript copied by Charles Hornby of Pipe Office in 1705, London, Luzec & Co. 1911.

"... But the Meccans still demanded of him [Muhammad] a miracle, and with remarkable boldness and self-confidence Mohammad appealed as the supreme confirmation of his mission to the Koran itself. Like all Arabs they were connoisseurs of language and rhetoric. Well then, IF KORAN WERE HIS OWN COMPOSITION OTHER MEN COULD RIVAL IT. If they could not [ and it is obvious that they could not ], then let them accept the Koran as an outstanding evidencial miracle."--[Mohammadanism, An Historical Survey, by HAMILTON A.R.GIBB, pg-40]

"....All these scriptures were written revelations, and all alike are to be believed and accepted, since they all cofirm one another and the Koran in particular not only confirms earlier scriptures but as final revelation, clears up all uncertainities and is the repository of perfect truth."--[Ibid, pg-53]

" If therefore, the religion which Mahomet taught be so impure, gross and absurd, and the mean whereby he established it so wicked and unjust as the Christians endeavour to represent them, the Authority both of miracles and prophesies must fall to the ground, for no man can believe that God will work a miracle to justify a false religion, or mention the author of such a one without a mark of infamy."--[Ibid, pg-164]

" I believe that he really did receive something directly from God. As such, I believe that the Qur’an came from God, that it is Divinely inspired. Muhammad could not have caused the great upsurge in religion that he did without God’s blessing." [“The whole house of Islam, and we Christians with them...” An interview with “the Last Orientalist” - the Rev Prof William Montgomery Watt by Bashir Maan & Alastair McIntosh]

The Magna Carta and English common law were also influenced by the Quranic code. Pope Sylvester II graduated from a Spanish university with a degree in Islamic Law. He went on to translate Islamic legal texts into Latin and called it the "New Roman Law." This code became the basis for the French legal system as well as that of Louisiana

Some precepts of law familiar to us today were also inspired by the Quranic code. Its influence on the international law is characterized by strict limitations on warfare, prohibition of harming of civilians or destruction of trees and crops, and adherence to treaties.

Mohammad was an ilitterate person and could not read or write.

The Quran was revealed piecemeal, according to the needs of the time. Angel Jibrail brought it to the Prophet who would memorize it.
Zaid bin Thabit was the main scribe out of the 42 scribes of the revelation. Abu Bakr, the first caliph of Islam, compiled the Quran.

Quran is word of God in his own grand and exalted narration. Mohammad SAW was an uneducated man and he was not able to read or write anything. IT was revealed by God and angel Gabriel was teaching him the verses which he was speaking and people were writing. There was no person in the Makkan society having vast knowledge equalling Quran. It is a wonderful miracle of Arabic narration and its contents of perfect as per all standards.

no, he was inspired Quran from God. if he made it up, he would have been discovered soon, as he (PBUH) grew up in a bedouin infidel environment & Quran is somehow continuous with torat & bible!
also, it is impossible for him to copy from torat or bible, as he could not read or write (it was meant in him coz of God wisdom), also almost all Mecca ppl were infidels!
i read Quran & found it treats new scientific facts very cautiously...
EDIT: e.g. the earth lapses around the sun. he told that but in a careful manner. remember that the church has said: if someone says earth lapses around the sun, then he is infidel. this was hundreds of years after Mohammed's (PBUH) death!
MANY other examples r there.
peace :)

MAYBE NOT CUZ IT'S NOT FOR MUHAMMAD WAS ILLITERATE IT'S CUZ THE VERSE OF THE QURAN MAINTAINS A RHYME, CONTAINS ASTRONOMICAL FACTS. MAYBE IT WAS WRITTEN BY SCIENTISTS OF 1800 OH I FORGOT IT WAS WRITTEN WITHIN 700AD. SO IT MIGHT BE THE WORD OF GOD LIKE THE REAL BIBLE, THE REAL TORAH.

The Koran is GOD's eternal word. HE inspired the words, letters and vocals to Archangel Gabriel; who in turn inspired them to Muhammad.
