Pharyngitis is the medical term for sore throat which means an inflammation of the pharynx or throat.

Laryngitis which is an inflammation of an upper airway is usually associated and presented by sore throat as well.

Thera Flu! Go buy it! Its like 6 bucks. I had a sore throat and did the whole salt water thing and it still hurt. I was bummed it was the day before I was going on vacation. My mom gave me Thera Flu and I swear I was all better within like a hour.

This depends upon whether or not the voice is affected.
If the voice is affected, it is known as laryngitis.
If the voice is not affected, it is known as tonsillitis.
