Philippians 2:12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
This is a verse that says concern yourself with your own work.
It's my way of pointing out that while concerned about others you do nothing for yourself.
It is my way of saying you're probably guilty of what you accuse others of because all accusers are guilty as they judge themselves.
Last of all I love you but don't become this hateful accuser you'll be amazed at how low you will be brought.
It isn't God that hid from Adam when Adam saw that he was naked it was Adam that hid. As people we still hide from God, it is our greatest god given power of free will. God asked Adam who told him he was naked. Do you want to be the part that shames humans from God? Remember God was fine with Adam even when naked.
;)
Seek the kingdom. You always find what you seek so seek well.

You just answered your own question. Believe it or not, some people don't believe your "scriptures" are any more pertinent than the Sunday paper. If they don't believe in the scriptures, then it only makes sense for them to come up with a moral code that seems appropriate. Tell me, why do you feel masturbation and lustful thoughts are wrong, except for the fact that your Bible says so. Is there any logic behind this teaching. If it doesn't hurt anyone, then why IS it wrong?
By the way, is it only wrong if a person does it to themselves or is it also wrong if their spouse does it to them. If it isn't wrong for the spouse to do it, then why is it wrong for someone to do it to themselves?

Now, u must have understood there aren't "just some", lot of people think that way. And i'm one among them.
As long as my actions, speech and thoughts doesn't harm others in anyway, i have the right to do wht i feel. And i belive being "good" in my own eyes ,is more important than what others think of me.
Not the type of girl who is foolish enough to waste my one & only one life, trying to get into good books of others. There will always be people to tell u, u r wrong, whatever u do..u can never ever satisfy everyone (or every holy books)

Some people believe that way on the pretext of doing their own things through acceptability of others on the premise of being harmless to them.Well,it may be one of the criteria but not the wholesome consideration for any issue or an action. As for your contention of lustful thoughts or masturbation are concerned,it has nothing to do the subject matter, being strictly personal and of free choice.

The considerable gap in what defines 'hurt' plays a role.
As an example, masturbation at face value may be harmless. But what happens to a man who has been masturbating for years when he gets into a relationship, and cannot be sexually satisfied without doing it for himself? (Yes this does happen, with considerable frequency!) How much damage will this do to the relationship: his new wife feels she isn't enough for her man, she may misinterpret his disinterest as him being in an affair... lots can go wrong.
On the other hand, there are some things that are wrong only because a rulebook somewhere (be it religious or governmental) says it's wrong.

This question is one of the main issues debated on R&S....and you will get many answers from both "sides", I'm sure. As for myself, I believe that the Bible was inspired by God, altered by man, and we spend so much time arguing with those who will continue to disagree that it gets ridiculous, in my mind!
To address your "masturbation" question; please consider that God might not have ever "said" that, but the powers that be in the church at the time felt that if men masturbated, a woman would not get pregnant...More people=more money to contribute to the church; therefore; masturbation became a "sin". Hmmmm....
And as for harming none--Didn't Jesus himself say that in a way?? "Do unto others..."
I'll just continue harming none, thinking with the brain God gave me, and leave it up to YOU to decide what is best for yourself. I hope you find what you are searching for!

This is called thinking for yourself rather than following the crowd. It is called taking responsibility for what you say and do rather than blaming some fictitious devil. . It is not a case of saying ' well I can do what I like and then tell God I'm sorry, and He'll forgive me because I believe everything that is said in the bible'. To 'harm none' is to respect all life, all souls and all creatures. It is honouring the Earth that supports and feeds us. It is taking into account the needs and wishes of others. It requires you to think about what you are saying before you say it.

Because it doesn't hurt anyone. How exactly is what I do in private any of your f***ing business? How did you become holier than I? What gives you the right to judge ANYONE? That is not condoned, according to YOUR scripture. Everyone has their own moral compass, that was given to them (according to you) by YOUR god, so do not be a hypocrite. It's that very attitude that has turned so many people against religion and people like you.

Actually concerning scripture, you will not find a direct reference to masturbation...the Catholic church brought up the subject of Onanism saying that Onan was evil bcause he spilled "it" on the ground...their understanding is taken VERY out of context...Onan's great sin was depriving his deceased brother's wife (which became his) of the chance to bear a male child to carry on his brothers name...this was the law then...he took her for a wife (didn't have to by law) but then just used her for his own pleasure and showed that he hated his brother by denying his wife, his seed...for this he was killed.
I don't condone or condemn masturbation...at least not until I can be certain. Until then be the master of your own conscience. Obviously masturbating with porn would not be right...but if you're away from your wife for a while and relieve yourself by thinking of her and masturbating, rather than succumbing to the obvious sin of adultery, is it really sinful???

Because people will do what they want. And if it hurts no one then why is it your business.
That's your scripture if you think those people are evil do not associate with them.
Since you are a person who reads scripture I would suggest that you do something to aide the starving and to stop the genocides and wars that occur daily, instead of worrying about people with lustful thoughts.
But that would require more than spiteful typing wouldn't it?
