I mean if the car battery is powerful enough to power a cigarrette lighter,or a handphone charger, why cant it power other devices? i used to think these batteries had a lot of power. I may have a concept here, where a dynamo is run on the friction of the car wheel and the energy is loaded on a whole bunch of capasitors, and a whole load of transistors to supply a steady electric current that can provide enough power for a laptop. What do you guys think about the concept? is it Possible or Not?

No, your idea is not feasible, additionally, there already is an alternator that powers the car anyway. Apparently you have little knowledge of what is under the hood of a car. The issue is the voltage that the laptop needs versus what the car's electrical system provides. If the laptop uses 5 volts, then one way would be an inverter, which are very common, to provide an a c voltage to the laptop power supply, or a voltage regulator device that would drop the battery voltage down to 5 volts, but also supply the needed amps to operate the laptop. To me, it's child's play, but I also have the experience to know what to do, and how to do it. Simple answer for you, look at the power supply that you plug into a wall outlet to power your computer, and to keep it's battery charged. It is going to at least give a voltage out, and a certain number of watts. If you are fortunate, there will also be a number given for the number of amps that is supplied to the computer. The 5 volts times the number of amps will give the wattage that you use for the laptop. This will translate into the size inverter that you need to buy to run the laptop in the car. Generally, a 75 watt to 100 watt inverter should do just fine. They can be found at stores like WalMart, on line, at a truck stop, or many other stores that sell computer equipment.

my step-sister's laptop got too hot and the lid of it was warped from the heat. I'd be careful about leaving that or anything else electronic in a hot car for long periods of time. It sounds like your laptop has heat-damage, not good. Try taking it to Staples, they usually can fix it there without having to send it away.

You can definitely run your laptop in a car, you will have to buy a charger and plug it into the hole of cigarette lighter in your car. That Charger will work for any laptop as it has different types of connectors and i think you can also set the voltage according to your specific laptop.

A laptop can be powered in car . It is much the same way car lights are lit. But a driver driven car is needed. A laptop can be operated only if someone else drives the car.
