If someone was born by Catholic parents, christened and even had a communion, but wishes as an adult to resign from being a Catholic, does this person need to take any " legal" steps to do this? I heard that just stopping going to church and not believing is not enough, that the person is still on a list as a Catholic.

I do not wish to join any other church.

Once again, I do not wish to join any other church or accept Jesus etc ( I thought that was clear).

I was wondering the exact same thing just a few days ago. I've heard the tired old phrase "Once a Catholic, Always a Catholic". This is complete nonsense. The answer is if one doesn't practice the Catholic religion along with not believing in its teachings they are no longer Catholic. As for any lists of membership I doubt that there really are any to begin with.

Well all you have to do is just NOT go to the catholic church anymore and there is NO legal action.
This is a free country, you can exercise any religion or not if you want.
And if you are on some list then tell them to take it out because you are NOT catholic anymore. Thats all there is to it.

Personally, I wouldn't bother. Just walk away. The hardest part is to shake the feeling that you will be condemned if you leave. If you find a church you feel teaches the Bible, you will be relieved of that fear. But the Catholic church doesn't have a legal hold over you. It can't do anything to you if you just leave. If you want to send them a letter of resignation, you can, but I don't have any idea how they would respond to it. Many people have left the Catholic church. I think the best thing to do is just walk away.

The catholic church doesn't like to let go, and will try to tell you you're still some type of (unattending) member until you send them money or have some type of service performed by them....The truth is that by the law of Grace (God's law) you are set free from it as soon as you renounce it with your lips/heart and stop attendance...and Godspeed in doing so....take as many out of the pit with you as you can.

I'd like to know too.

Good question....I have been out of the Church 14 years....but would do anything possible to make it official. I have rebuked it, confessed it as a sin to G-d....have you done that yet?

I have repented by telling others the truth about the Catholic system...

start going to Protestant church.
Or walk into last catholic church they've been going to and ask to be taken off the list.

That's why the bastards do it that way... forcing their religion on you as a child before you are able to reason their deceit... I think we should all get together and form class action suits against the church for forcing their rituals on babies and children....

There is no list of Catholics. Just be whatever you want to be. Only the religions care what religion you are, God doesn't.

The Catholic church believes the mark of baptism to be indelible. You can be excommunicated, but that doesn't erase the mark of baptism.
