Never mention registries on any kind of invitation, ever. If your guests want to know where you're registered, they'll ask you, or better yet, find out on their own by phoning the shops.
(Some of the respondents seem so think that the type of event--birthday vs. wedding--is relevant here. It isn't. Registering for a wedding is no more (or less) appropriate than for any other event. It's putting the information in the *invitation* that is inappropriate.)

OMG I`ve heard it all !! A registry for a one year old, not only tacky, but inappropriate. Do u intend to do this for every birthday she has ? At that rate, it shouldn`t cost u a dime to keep ur daughter supplied with whatever u think she should have. If u want to be the laughing stock of ur circle, then by all means register a one yr. old`s birthday party.

you REGISTERED your kid for a birthday party? you absolutely may not put that on an invitation, it is greedy and rude. the point of celebrating birthdays is to celebrate the birth of your daughter and to mark the date that she came into the world, not to rack up on toys and presents. that is so incredibly rude. if i got a birthday invitation with a registry i wouldn't go.

Yeah, I don't mean to be rude, but it does seem just a bit tacky. I think registering for birthday gifts in the first place is a bit tacky though. When did people start doing this?

they are so cute... i dont see how they could be overboard. who ever thinks they are overboard probably just thinks you should buy store ones and write in the date and time. but this is a super cute idea, and a nice memory of her first birthday! but maybe use a different color for the font so that you can see it a little bit better.

I think it is a little presumptuous but I don't really see it being to dramatic as some are making it, I mean especially if your doing it because you don't want a whole bunch of worthless toys that talk too much or are not educational, if you register then you can control what they get like maybe educational toys in lieu of spongebob or something like that. Word to the wise the Sesame Street Elmo and Cookie Monster Vaccum is the worst toy I have ever bought. I thought it was going to be educational but all it says is vroooom vrooomm elmo loves to vaccum annoying as hell, don't anyone buy it

I don't think that it is appropriate at all. If anyone asks you what she wants or needs then you can tell them but only then.

No, it is absolutely not appropriate.
Birthday gifts should be optional.
The real gift you are receiving is that you have family, and friends that are celebrating the gift of life; your daughter with you.
