This is a serious question I have always wondered about...take it for face value because there is no hidden meaning behind this question...when you're old and gray and possibly lonely are you going to look back on your life and be glad of all you did or will you maybe have regrets? I won't, so don't ask me. As I said I'm wondering for my own personal benefit.

Thanks everyone for your response. As I said, I was wondering...not trying to be malicious in any way. I have a friend who is gay and I asked him the same question. I'm taking a sociology class at the moment and I've gotten interested in these things and the way people view religion.

I will have to say I am neither atheist or wiccan but I would under christian mentality fall into either or both... In my life I know I have fought the god of christianity.. I do not worship no devil don't dance to satan in the woods and so on.... I do it because it's the right thing to do... I will not have one regret when I die.... not one and if I'm lucky I'll be around when the church falls but if not I will know the role I played will have been the best thing .. No hidden agenda here... but plenty of hidden agenda in christianity... tons of it... You ever hear that satan will be called god of the earth... and satan will deceive many.. well the deceived are the christians and a lot of information about that will be common knowlege soon... for satan is the only one to really use the word god in describing himself and all you do is for him alone...

It would depend on the circumstances of each person at such a stage of life.Looking back can not be confined to only a religion but may involve host of issues like values, traits, social engineering or whatever. On some issues some people may regret and on others, may feel more strongly. It's not possible to have a pattern as all such changes are likely to be case specific.

They will not care. They do not fear death. Death is part of the circle of life. They are not concerned in the way that you are.
They will have regrets. They will remember triumphs. They are human. Such is the state of humanity.
The now, the past, the regret or triumph, the meaning or significance, none are significant. They are the result of impersonal nature, mere chemistry. They know this. This is how they live.
If I am mistaken, if they really do care, if they wish to avoid regrets, then they will find some way to do that.
Or, they will not.
Most are convinced that there is no other way. Chemistry is all there is.
Too bad.

I'm not gonna live to that age. lol I'm too self destructive and crazy to live that long. By the time I die i will look back on my life and hopefully say "yo i lived passed 27 this time" lol. Also I hope to look back on my life and think "I taught many people many things, did my best to help alleviate suffering and also had a great time." I will have no regrets. I'm not completely an atheist or any term you can think of. I like to term myself as such to convey the image that i need to in order to get others to understand. Why do you ask such a thing? I hope to have satisfied your curiouosity. I hope that you would do the same for me.

I am an 18 year old Atheist. I look back on my life now and have regrets. I regret the first 16 years of my life as a Pentecostal Holiness. I expect I will have future regrets but not because I am an Atheist.

the only regrets ive ever had that lasted were those from things i did not do. i don't think that will change when i'm older. i'm not sure how atheism is supposed to play into this question (or wicca, isn't that pagan? virtually opposite from atheism [maybe u you could explain more?] ). if i related my views to this question though, I'd say that being atheistic has helped me consider my actions since i see myself as both responsible for my own actions, and the ultimate judge of them.

Well, I am Athiest. And personally, I will not, or at least I do not believe, that when I die I will have regrets whatsoever. I live my life how I see fit, I make decisions based on what I believe will make myself, or those I care about, better off and happier, whether or not I accomplish this goal really doesn't matter. At the time I was doing things as I saw fit. I live life for myself, not for god or anyone else, therefor I will not have regrets.

I'm sure I will have regrets, but they will have nothing to do with the fact that I am an atheist.
Personally, I think that the only type of person who has no regrets whatsoever is one who has no conscience. Everybody makes mistakes.

Since I don't know how my life will turn out, I have no way of saying whether I'm going to regret it. So far it seems to be going swell.

How do you know you won't be lying on your deathbed thinking "Man I wish I hadn't dedicated my life to something I'm not so sure about anymore" ?
No insult meant, I'm just pointing out you cannot know that you'll always be religious, you can only think or believe that you will. Ditto here, but I highly doubt I'll repent my atheism.
