Just curious if I am the only one that gets through the day with living in one. :)

yes, though it is not as elaborate as when I was growing up. I had extremely detailed fantasies that I would always escape into it for hours every day. I no longer do that, though I do continue to fantasize a lot.

I don't think it's particularly healthy or a sign of being well-adjusted... I think it's the opposite. It can be used to avoid coping with the reality. And even when reality isn't bad, it can't live up to the fantasy.

Why yes, I do. In my fantasy, I have a small cabin on the outskirts of a small town. I am older and I spend my time sitting on the porch watching the traffic go by. I am retired and there is enough money in the bank and my greatest worry is walking into town the the store and what I am going to have for dinner. The weather is always mild (no too hot, not too cold) and it never snows. I know it sounds simple, but my life is really hectic and when I retire, I want simple.

Yes, it's very common! Like an answerer above said - it's a safe place. Mine lead towards sci fi instead of fantasy, but it's nice to just close your eyes and be somewhere safe and fun. It's psychologically healthy (so long as you're not spending ALL your time there) and it gives your imagination a work out.

Funny you have come up with this on your own.
One of the tools a therapist will use is called a "safe place".
For a person dealing with strong fears and feeling unsafe, the therapist will ask them to form an internal or fantasy "safe place" where nothing bad will happen, and no one can touch them. A place where all is good and kind and nice.

When the person feels out of control or unsafe, the exercise they are to use is to close their eyes and picture themself in their "safe place" it could be an island, bubble, mountain, castle, ice cream shop, a forest.................it's your imagination, you design your own safe place for your mind to go to feel safe.

Congratulations. You're a self sufficient person.
