as soon as I woke up and told me she was "ratgirl". She slaps my butt when I'm brushing my teeth, and follows me around- then as SOON as I sit down she sits in my lap! When my boyfriend comes over she tells him she smokes and drinks beer (neither one is true, she's 5 by the way), and when I leave with my bf she says "see ya later alli-poo-poo" to him. ERGH!

Lmao! Sounds like my kinda girl. She's going to be a hoot when she grows up. I know you don't realize that now, but you will when you are an adult....trust me on this.

This is all about getting attention.
She is doing all this to get you riled... which is her big reward. When she does this stuff, you need to change how you react.

When she gets physical like that, you have the right to slap the puddin' out of her! When she sits on your lap you dump her off as abruptly as you can.

Try the "carrot and stick" approach. Have a talk with her. Reward her by giving her some of your time to play a game with her when she is good. Bu when she is bad you say, "okay if you are going to be a little creep like that, I don't want anything to do with you" and then walk off.

Have you talked to your parents about it? Do you think this is attention-seeking behaviour driven by bad behaviour etc, or do you think you spending more time with her doing things she likes doing with you could help. She probably just wants you to notice her and give her attention because you are her big sister. Sounds like maybe your parents need to set her some boundaries about how she behaves with you and with your friends and other company. Maybe if this does not happen, you could use spending time with her as a bit of a carrot and stick eg. if she likes doing things with you and she cuts back on annoying behaviour, you do more things with her and take her out etc. On the other hand, if she keeps it up, don't give her as much good attention, you could shut her out of your room or the bathroom when you are there or spend time with your boyfriend away from the house and word him up on not encouraging her too etc. She might need to learn that respect is a two-way street and annoying people has consequences. Still, she is your sister and a little kid, and will grow out of it eventually. Chances are you are smarter than her and if you really think about it and don't let it annoy you, you can outsmart her every time. Good luck.

She's 5. She repeats what she hears and acts like you do, because you are her idol. If you want to change her behavior, you have to set a better example.
