I come home work and there's a note (addressed to me) on the door to call the policy department. It's a handwritten note, but I called.

The police didn't have any record that they came out and they think it was a prank. If they had, they would have left some sort of official notification.

But, what is someone is going to the cops? I wonder what I did? I just called, so I assume that if they went to the cops, the police would have some sort of record (It's after midnight).

I was shopping all day and have all my personal things (purse, wallet, cards, phone...).

Should I be concerned?

If it was the Police, they will recontact. You could always try calling back again in the morning. Normally, an Officer will leave a business card. If it is a prank, don't worry, probably kids.

If you don't have any enemies, I wouldn't think of this of anything other than a prank. Just a note on your door and not official? Just a prank, but obviously someone that knows you if they addressed it to you personally. I would be sure that your house was locked though and if you are concerned find someone to spend the night with you if you are alone or go elsewhere for the evening.

any time the police have ever came to my home to ask questions, and i was gone, they left a card placed in the crack of the door. have you made any friends, kids, or neighbors in the neighborhood angery? it's more in likely a prank. i still would tell my apartment manager, or family member about it, maybe have a friend stay a couple nights with you, or ask a friend to stay at your place while you're at work for a couple days. maybe they can keep an eye on things, and maybe catch whos doing this. but do not confront anyone. if there is a problem, call the police.

I think it was a joke.

I have come home to a card under the door from a police detective. No handwritten note. I called and they were looking for the previous tenants. If an officer leaves a note to call, he/she is going to leave their name and badge number or dept and phone number.

I would only be concerned about someone playing a joke on you. Why would someone do that? Who knows. People can be mean/strange. Just be on the lookout for anything suspicious around your home. If anything appears strange- or if you feel in danger of someone- then call the cops to come out.

Could have just been something random- some random prank- so, don't freak out too bad.

NO, but - Cops DO leave notes all the time! Instances off the top of my head - someone has driven thru your yard, someone has hit your car, we found some of your property....

However a note from the "Cops" will NOT say "call the cops" - rather, it would have an officers name, ID number and phone number on it. Never just "call the cops".

I wouldn't be. It is probably just someone messing with you. The cops always leaves a business card with their number and name. If the cops have no record of you either then it really is nothing to big to worry about even though I am sure it is VERY annoying.

Usually the police leave a business card and an official note, don't worry, someone is messing with you...now you have to figure out who!!

maybe it was a random person, that just happen to be near your home like running or hiding and was asking for help in a weird way,i would ask the neighbors if they seen someone,or if the police were out there for another case,it does sound strange.
