I give him plenty of food, and he ends up flipping it over all the time. I refill it every time. But now I'm getting to the point where I think I'll just super glue it to the cage so he stops wasting food.

I thought maybe he didn't like the food I was giving him, so I bought something new... nope. Still doing it.

My hamster does the same thing-he is looking for the best bits.I solved the problem by putting his fruit or veggie of the day on top of his house . Now the food doesn't smell like the treat and he doesn't knock it over getting to the goodies. A cage mounted dish is also a good Idea.

Guinea pigs will do this stuff.... get her some things to do in her cage and make sure its clean and comfy. To keep her from tipping the dish it needs to be bottom heavy, ceramic style bowls are this way, or that isn't an option super glue the dish to the bottom of the cage, obviously leave a gap from where the glue will be to the where the edge of the dish is to avoid any contact of the super glue and the rodent. My guinea pig would throw his water bottle around because he wanted to get your attention along with tipping his bowl. In regards to the cage biting...unsure of the reasoning but you could get a mineral or salt block made for guinea pigs and place in that particular area of the cage. Best of luck.

My rat did the same thing! At most pet stores they sell a food bowl that attaches to the side of the cage, so the animal can not flip it over. Maybe try cutting of some fresh veggies for him and see if he likes that.

Good luck!

I have the neat bowl that attach to the side of the cage. The guinea pig does it because if you were give a table of your fav. candy and the person that loved that candy was sitting across from you would get as much candy is you could. Think about it!!!

My guinea pig did the same thing. They just like getting into trouble. I solved it by attaching the bowl to the cage with a clothespin.

Yes, he's just playing with the dish. Our guy did the same thing til I attached it securely to the cage. He still tries to dislodge it, even tho he's got plenty of toys & gets lots of attention. He also played with his water bottle when the weather was warmer.

He's not a pig! He's an animal for God's sake. Listen to him roar...

From what I understand, all prisoners throw their food bowls over when they're tired of the food.

Alot of the times they are bored, and enjoy playing with their dishes. Get him empty dishes or other plastic toys to play with.

Does he have various guinea-safe woods to chew on?

It's just a way they like to entertain themselves. A lot of times they do it because they are bored.
