While browsing today at Borders, a man walked up to me, and introduced himself to me as a 'Ghandian'. He was visiting from India, and wearing homegrown, homespun, and hand loomed cotton clothing. He was visiting the U.S. with his family, and was very friendly and congenial, as was his family. I had never heard Ghandi's followers called by that term. Any comments?

You not only heard him right but also understood him correctly.A lot of people in this country (India) call themselves as Gandhians, indicating their choice of non violence,Equality ,simplicity and such other traits advocated by Gandhi. They are decent folks and are good company for an exchange of ideas.

Never heard it either. Are you sure you didn't mishear it and he said he was Ugandan or from Ghana (Ghanaian) or something?
