No, celibacy came much later because priests were willing church property to their sons. Look it up.

In fact the whole Eastern Rite of the Roman Catholic Church has married priests. And there are some married priests in the Roman or Latin Rite as well. No, Episcopal ministers are not really priests regardless of what they are called, since Protestant churches have no valid sacraments other than baptism. However, married Episcopal or Anglican "priests" who convert to Catholicism, after additional studies, can be and often are ordained priests by the Catholic Church, and such priests obviously remain married.

Paul also claimed that it was better to do without marriage and sex, if possible. I think the pope who made this ruling wanted to hold the priesthood to a higher standard than the average person. However, it should be noted that the Roman Catholic Church (RCC) permitted priests to marry for centuries, and also that the RCC accepts episcopal priests who join the RCC, even if married, to retain their priestly duties. So the RCC certainly recognizes the episcopal priesthood. Whether or not God recognizes it probably depends 1) on the individual priest and 2) whether or not the Holy Spirit was actually transferred during ordination.

Good grief. Do you ever actually read the Bible? All you have to do is read Paul's Letter to Timothy. In the text, he is quite explicit that both bishops and deacons (Paul's term for what we now call priests) should be married and be a good father to his children.
Please tell me how the catholic church twisted this around to endorse celibacy?

I don't think that any holy man is recognized by God. You don't know that Jesus never had sex. You have to realize that most churches have everything to do with religion, and nothing at all to do with God.
