The most preposterous notion that H. Sapiens has ever dreamed up is that the Lord God of Creation, Shaper and Ruler of all the Universes, wants the saccharine adoration of His creatures, can be swayed by their prayers, and becomes petulant if He does not receive this flattery. Yet this absurd fantasy, without a shred of evidence to bolster it, pays all the expenses of the oldest, largest, and least productive industry in all of history.

I believe most modern religions, especially Christian groups are based on fear and guilt. Fear of Death and the chance of a waiting hell. And guilt at the impossibilities of following the tenants of the Bible. This bible was written in the time of Constantine, the first roman Emperor that was a Christian. The people of that time believed the world was flat, stars were holes in the sky. The material for the bible was verbal, handed down by l6 generations, verbally. If you feel the need to talk to god talk to him like a man. You've made mistakes, I'll straighten them out. Don't forgive me, I'll work that out myself. And by the way, you are worthy. Good Luck

God does not hear the prayers of sinners. If you are a sinner, and do come to Him as a repentant sinner, He will not hear your prayer. God can see into your heart, and knows if you have changed and truly are repented. You can talk to God in Jesus's name, and He will lesson, and give you a answer to your prayer. It may not always be the answer you want, but it will always be the right answer, God knows your needs, and He will always take care of your needs.

God wants to hear everything you have in your heart, soul and mind. He already knows what's there anyway but, when you put these things into words, like having a conversation, it stregthens your relationship with him. If you need forgiven then those are the words to say, if you are happy tell him that too and be sure to thank him for it, ALL OF IT!!

At first, I'm sure he did. But seeing as there's millions upon millions of people saying all that at the same time, I can see where a god would get tired of it all.

Just whatever you do, don't grovel, because I think he can't stand that more than sinning. (makes sense to me)

Although there are times we all feel an apology is in order, I don't think we need to constantly grovel, nor do I think we need to constantly praise but rather share everything, hopes fears, struggles, love, anger, joys...all of it, all the time.

But that's just me...

That's what people like my father want to believe -- that we should all "fear" God. But I think that if God is as kind and loving as people make Him out to be, He would not want anyone to be afraid of Him! Surely He would prefer people to feel comfortable and secure rather than nervous and frightened??

If groveling is our purpose, we might as well have none

No. God also likes it when we make Him laugh.

the model prayer is 'Our Father which art in Heaven, Hallowed be thy name..............'
He wants us to talk to Him about everything. Our concerns are His concerns. He wants to hear our requests and our praises and our thanks, and love.
