are there any believers who, once their body is laid to rest, want their soul to do the same as well?

mike, don't let my curiosity of human psychology confuse you for doubt in what i believe.

wheelsqueak, so let me get this straight. non-believers are the ones that hate life? i think you got your story backwards. i love life, and i don't believe there's any experience better than living. i value my family and friends more than anything. you on the hand believe this is a life of suffering that will only better prepare you for an imaginary place, run by an imaginary person who you place before everyone you've ever known or cared about.

Some might, but I honestly don't know why someone would want such annihilation, unless they already believe that there's no hereafter to begin with. I personally believe when someones body dies that there soul continues to live eternally.

I think an innate fear of death is what has driven people to seek religion in the first place, and that all Christians want to live forever.

Why I would not want to be in the presence of my Lord when it is offered to me?

This body will rest, but God gives us new eternal bodies and they will last forever.

Whether you want it or NOT, its part of the package deal. LOL

Your soul is your mind, your will and your emotions...all of what makes YOU "you"...and it will go on throughout eternity. The final destination where you spend that eternity is determined by your willingness to take God at His Word with regard to your need for his GIFT of righteousness in order to be reconciled to Him and to enter HEAVEN instead of ...you know where.

Hey self-proclaimed atheist! Why don't you accept Christ already. HE seems to be tugging at your heart. Seek HIM before your heart becomes a stone. Praise the LORD.

Believers are those who love life and wants to live for God.
Unbelievers are those who hates life and wants everyone to die with them.

No. All I have ever hoped for, and have come to understand cannot be fulfilled in this present world, will be so in God's kingdom. It will be the fulfillment of every hope.

That's would be atheists. but then they are non-believers.
On the other hand...i suppose most people are not really concerned about that. Most people are concerned about their materialistic lives.
