Marry a rich woman, some 15 years or so your senior, so that you can spend your days lazing about and hallucinating...and not end up homeless whilst you do so.

Make up rules that appeal to the uneducated and criminal elements of society (like: if you attack, rob, rape and murder someone, you are really acting according to god's will! OR: if you die while robbing, raping, or attacking someone -- and giving me 20% of whatever ill-gotten gains you take -- you will go to a heaven full of free sex and free booze). Play off of the ignorance and prejudices of these elements; tell them that they’re right, and everyone else is wrong. When you’re shown to be wrong, call the ones who showed you up liars; maybe hire your thugs to bump them off.

Of course, if you ever get into a sticky situation, make sure your god can communicate with you; maybe start sweating and go into a fit -- and then, behold! The angel speaks to you! You tell your followers, and just hope that they don’t notice that your god always gets you out of scrapes (if anyone gets too troublesome, you can always just kill him or her).

Be sure to grab some stuff for yourself, too…stolen goods…little girls…whatever turns you on.

In 1500 years or so, who knows: you could have billions of followers!

Well, what do you mean by “religion”? Remember religion is a very fluid term. It does not necessarily have to entail a belief in God, which is what most people associate with the term. Buddhism and Taoism, in their most pristine forms, before eastern culture attached ancestor worship and tribal polytheistic traditions to both faiths, were non-theistic at their core. They were a philosophy of life, coupled with some superstitious metaphysical notions.

I understand that if we are going to relinquish our attachment to religion, there is still something in the human heart that craves the numinous; something that is inside of us that yearns for camaraderie among fellowmen; we desire something that gives groups of people a higher purpose than self-serving interests.

There is no short answer as to how to fill this void, which is left once we discard with traditional religious belief. Yet the writings of some notable atheists do give us a clue as to how to resolve this dilemma. Richard Dawkins is of the view that our study of the world, and our cognizance of how little we know, and how much we need to learn, should fill us with the awe and wonder that was previously supplied by religion. And as Sam Harris has stated, our moral progress is directly contingent on how our behavior affects human suffering. The more we understand the causes of human suffering, and how to address that issue, the more moral we will become.

Both of these icons of secularism underscore that it is further study into the scientific, behavioral, and philosophical disciplines that will ultimately satisfy the hunger religion used to quell. So if you are going to insist on creating some new system of belief that supplants our old long held superstitions, let your primary goal be sustaining the truth. Let your new “religion” demonstrate that the pursuit of knowledge is the most “spiritually” uplifting thing you can do, and that no belief is so sacrosanct that it can’t be questioned. Maybe your new “religion” will have people meeting every Sunday, but instead of worshiping an imaginary deity, this new system of belief will cause people to converse about the implications of Darwinism, and speak candidly about the ethical teachings of Spinoza, and conduct discourse about Thomas Paine’s view of how man is a creature endowed with intrinsic rights. This is the sort of religion that I can get into, and I am sure that I am not alone.

Oh no!!!! not another one. How many "true religions" do I have to give advice on. O.K. my advice is you must pay 50per cent of your earnings to the person who gives you the best advice, or you will be banished to never never land with Peter Pan, and the fairies. Go into the woods, and sit under a tree, and I will come to you on Friday night, and give you a tablet of stone. You must then translate the tablet into readable English, and give a copy to every person in your home town. once you have done that, you may now take another wife, second thoughts have 2. But you cannot drink milk anymore, remember, this is a new religion, and religions have laws. AND, you must refrain from any sexual activity during a full moon. I'll think of the reason why later.O.K. there's the basis of your new religion, I'll meet you in the woodson Friday night, and give you the tablets. Where's your nearest woods? AND don't forget the money.

There is no perfect religion on earth. We are human and incapable of perfection. The true religion is when we reach Heaven. God is perfection. If you are serious about belonging to a religion join a Christian religion that follows the scriptures. Jesus was born of the Virgin Mary, became man, was crucified, died for our sins and was buried. He rose from the dead on the third day and is seated at his Fathers right side in heaven. He died on the cross for you, so that your sins would be forgiven.. Read the Bible and follow his word and you will reach the perfect religion in the next life. Read and follow his scripture and the Holy Spirit will guide you every minute of everyday. If you do not follow the scriptures and believe in Jesus Christ the son of God and that he died for your sins and mine, you will fall into the pit and burn forever.

May I suggest the "true religion" of the Bible, which many people don't even realize ...

Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this: To visit the fatherless and the widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

~ James Chapter 1 verse 27

How's that for a short set of doctrines? Good luck!

I think it should have something to do with... food. A cooking-oriented religion.

"And lo, the noble tomato spaketh unto the peoples: Let ye be full!"

That's the best religion I've ever heard of. You know what, why don't I make that one instead of you? You can think of something else. Maybe we'll get our congregations together one day and duel.

Sound good?

Start by asserting that only the true believers can understand. The Emperor's New Clothes principle is key to any cult.
