It's because evolution seems more reasonable and logical than the whole idea of a god or gods. I mean, do you really believe that humans are some superior creature on this planet? I mean, the difference between you and say, a cow, is that you're highly evolved; your brain is more developed and your ancestors were more advanced than the cow's.

What makes you assume that I wasn't skeptical of Atheism...

I didn't suddenly one day say "I am Atheist"... I did research and little by little came to the conclusion that deities make no sense... Deities simply explain the unknown until the real answer is found making the deity obsolete..

I was skeptical that's why I did the research for myself and found the answers that make sense..

Because I am an atheist. Was that supposed to be an attempt at semi-intelligence?

If you're asking why I'm not skeptical of the "there are no gods" thing, it's the same reason why a person isn't skeptical of the belief that there is no Santa.

Atheism is the lack of belief... you can't be skeptical of nothing. Are you a sillly believer or just into asking silly questions.

Just because I don't believe in any gods doesn't mean I just came to that conclusion out of nowhere. It was the result of year after year of research, reading, discussion, and meditation - it's not a conclusion I've come to lightly. Thus far, nothing I have come across has refuted the natural default state of not believing in gods. Old books, circular logic, and personal anecdotes don't count! I find it rather insulting that you'd suggest that I don't question EVERYTHING, because I sure do.

Logic dictates that the null-statement (in this case gods don't exist), is the default statement. It only changes when verifible evidence to the contrary is found.

Logic is the main tool of the skeptic.

On the other side of that coin.....and there's always another side.

Believers, if you are skeptical, why are you not skeptical of believing in a Supreme Being?

Doesn't make sense does it.

why is it an atheist has to explain every detail to a christian.... it's none of your business is just fine by me... I'm not an atheist... but I don't beleive in religion either.. I think that if there is anything evil on this planet religion fits the description quite nicely and christianity insidiously so... You all can't bare to look in the mirror of truth for if you did you would all be ashamed of what you do.

This question is fundamentally flawed.

if (you are skeptical) {
why are you not skeptical of atheism;
}

Why should we be.

Equivalent to saying

if (you are skeptical) {
Why are you not skeptical of door;
}

Er... I've been skeptical of the existence of gods and the nonexistence of gods. Skepticism doesn't mean you never sort things out.
