No

The Run Command in Windows XP is Start --- Run, you can also do it through the task manager. But it's simply where you would type words to make a program open instead of clicking on the icon.

The command prompt looks like the old DOS screen before Windows. To get to it you go to Start --- Run ---- CMD, and it opens up a DOS simulator.

One of the ways to get to a Command Prompt is via the Run Command, but it's not the only way.

But let's see if we can get your Run command back (Windows XP):

1. Right click on the Start Button and select Properties.
2. Click the Customize button.
3. Click the Advanced tab.
4. In the Start Menu Items list box, click the check box next to Run Command..
5. OK out of everything.

That should do it. If it doesn't, I would suspect you have some malware on your machine and it's time for a full anti-virus, anti-spyware, anti-adware scan.

Good luck.

No. The run command will run a command like MSCONFIG or REGEDIT. Those types of commands. The Command prompt opens the dos version of the computer and will run dos commands such as COPY, EDIT, DEL etc. Both are different but seem similiar.
