I am with my dogs literally 24 hours a day, most of the time 7 days a week. Do I have a boring life or what?! LOL I am a semi invalid and don't get out much, can't drive. My only outings are usually to the vet or the doctor. My chihuahuas are indoors always except for playtime outside and potty breaks. My lab/blue heeler mixes are outside dogs whose job it is to guard the house, us and our dogs, and they actually do a very good job of it.

I currently have five dogs, 4 shepherds, and one husky. They sleep inside. Most of the time they aren't alone too long (2 - 4 hours) because everyone in my house is on different schedules. Every once in a while they have a long day that is 8 to 10 hours, if I know ahead of time I get someone to come over and let them outside. There are times when I have to work over though and can't get someone over, but those days are few and far between. The times they have been at home alone for 8 to 10 hours I can really tell the next day because they are pinging off the walls and I have to make sure they get extra exercise.

We live in an apt. and have 3 dogs (1 medium labX, and 2 Shih-tzus). They are home by themselves at the most 4 hours during the day. They are house dogs and sleep in our bedroom at night (dogs love to sleep in the same room as the rest of the pack, which includes their people). They also get 2 half hour walks during the day and 2 other quick potty times (one between the 2 walks and one right before going to bed at night); we are lucky enough to live across the street from a nice park with a off leash dog area for them to run and play.

My dogs are actually at home the better part of the day by themselves ( I am a ful time student). They were both born and raised outside - so they are used to sleeping outside. I have 2 German Shepherds.

They are only home by themselves for about an hour or two a day, that's when I go to work, but shortly after I leave my husband comes home and also when we go out they are home, thats usually once a week for about 3 hours... They all sleep inside, in their own little crates (we call them their bedrooms)
Have a Great Dane, Chihuahua, and a Pom/Maltese mix

I am supposed to be on bed rest so my dogs are pretty much never home alone. Prior to that, I worked close to home and stopped home at lunchtime to let them out so they were home alone for a 4-5 hour stretch each time.
They sleep inside, as all dogs should.
My dogs are:
- Oscar, 3 yr old ??? mix (possibly lab/collie)
- Leo, 4 yr old Rott/Aussie mix
- Jenna, 6 yr old Schipperke

Our 10 month old PittBull/Lab mix puppy is in his crate about 6-7 hours a day. We walk him about 4-5 times a day and he gets played with a lot! Dogs do not mind being in their crate if they are well balanced. It is their "cave" and it is comforting for them. He sleeps on the floor in our bedroom, but every now and then he sneaks into bed with us (he is 70lbs!) Dogs should not be left outside alone.
