Restrictor plate is a plate between the carbuerator and the intake manifold which limits the air fuel mixture so the engine doesnt produce horsepower--These are used at Daytona and Talladega each race there.. Tight= car wont turn. Loose=Car wants to spin out the rear end wants to come around. Push= car wants to head to the wall with front end much the same as Tight. Free up the car or make it more loose. Air Pressure= Tires can be adjusted by more or less air to adjust how the car handles also called Stagger. Hope these few things help!!!!

Restrictor plates are to restrict flow of air and fuel into the engine. Bill Elliot went 212 mph at Talladega and that's when Nascar decided to slow it down.

As a fan Restrictor plates suck because where as the speeds are very high they have always been that high, the highest speed reached on a recorded lap was and I believe still is Bill Elliot at Talladega which was 211 MPH, yeah that is high but with safety the way it is I think that it is unnecessary. I mean Dale Sr. died going pretty fast but not 200 mPH and from the sounds of he hit just the right way to kill him. And the car of tomorrow is ugly

Restrictor Plate Races: Large tracks with a lot of speed which require a bigger restrictor plate (if you don't know what a restrictor plate is, just think of it as something in the engine that basically slows the car down). Talladega and Daytona are these tracks.

Restrictor Plate - An aluminum plate with four holes in it that is placed under the carburetor to restrict air and fuel. That restriction keeps the cars from going to fast that officials consider dangerous!

Restrictor Plate racing is when they use a metal plate inside the carburator to restrict the amount of fuel entering the carburator thus reducing horsepower and slowing the car down!!!
They had to enforce the use of the restrictor plate especially at Talladega & Daytona cuz they could reach speeds that were to dangerous to race.....and was causing crazy accidents!!!
Hope that helps!!!
