Anyone else find this video slightly subversive to a Christian point of view?

If you're not into the whole video-watching or link-following thing, Larry sings to the sick pets, while Pa Grape quietly suggests a more effective solution to the problem. Could this be seen as an unintentional criticism of prayer relative to concrete action?

Right, that's the point: the Christian organization putting out a video that's inadvertently or deliberately equating prayer with yodeling in terms of medical usefulness.
While I'm editing: I wish I had some harmonizing scallions.

That's... kind of awesome, actually.
Despite not being a Christian, I've always found Veggie Tails to be pretty funny. One of the few kids shows I actually laugh at. I was actually surprised when I realized it was a Christian show.
Also, did anyone notice that Pa Grape has the stereotypical "Old Jewish Guy" accent? What's up with that?

I am sorry, haven't got the Veggie Tales series for my kids yet... but when I do, I will be sure to preview!! lol
Hopefully that part of the story didn't mean to be a criticism against prayer, I know alot of Christian families love letting their kids watch them... was there an ending that enforces the value and power of prayer??
Take care, God bless

Veggietales is a Christian cartoon. there is a Bible verse at the end of each episode and many stories are loosely based on Bible stories. Or at least Biblical morals.
I dont see how this song is critisising prayer at all. Larry is singing one of his silly songs. singing to a sick animal and praying are very differnt things. and this whole song is supposed to make kids laugh after all.

No, it's not a criticism of prayer. It's merely a demonstration -- in childishly simple terms -- of the hypocrisy that's woven into the very fabric of christianity.
Yes, they pray for things. They also hold jobs to pay for things, including health services, all the while solemnly intoning "gawd will provide."
To be fair, hypocrisy is hardly an exclusively christian property. And too many children's stories are created by adults who have no real respect for children. Kids are smarter than we give them credit for.

Everyone knows Veggie Tales is basically a series of Christian muppet stories. If you do not, you have been living in a cave. If you don't want your familly to be influenced by these tales don't watch or buy them, but the makers of the tales have been pretty clear about them from go.

No Larry wasn't praying, he was singing. And we all know how silly some of his songs can be.
