I think you are going to have to decide just how much you want to tell her, it's best to be honest with a respect for age appropriateness, because someday she may ask you for help on how to tell her own children. :) I know my little girl will be asking me soon, and I'm planning to tell her that babies come when a Mommy and a Daddy close their eyes and make a wish. Anything further is going to be decided by her response. Don't stress about it too much, you are her Mom, and only you know what's best for your little girlie.

I am a firm believer in telling children the truth... (when appropritate)
I have twin boys who are 6 and they started asking me A LOT about babies and such. I have 2 friends who just had babies..
Anyway, I feel as though they are too young to have the "sex" talk but I did tell them the God puts babies in Mommy's bellies and I told them how babies come out and such. We even sat and watched a video of a birth.
They understand and are fine with it. They know how it is and that is good with them. We are Christians and our focus is on God and how amazing that he can do such a thing.
Good Luck to you!!!

It depends on how old she is. If under age 5 tell her the baby grows in mommy's tummy. Just start with the basics. No need to go into detail.

Like everyone said, depending on her age... but the most important thing is tell her in terms she can understand, and keep it short and simple. I'm all in favor of honesty where birth is concerned and forgoing all of the stork/cabbage patch/floating on a lily pad baloney!
After inadvertently seeing a portion of "A Baby Story", my girls, at ages 4 and 6, were fascinated and asked. I told them that there was a special place in my belly where they grew, and a special place in my bottom where they were born. That of course completely grossed them out and we laughed about it. But they just accepted it and changed the channel to Sponge Bob. Good luck!

First, ask her where she thinks they come from.
You can always answer with "wow, you are a very smart girl!".
And there's always "They come from a mommy and a daddy who love eachother very much"
