My love for Christ and Christianity values originally conceived does not prevent me from loving other religions and gain from its teachings. I think that all religions are based on love and brotherhood, but very badly misinterpreted by self-seeking evil heads of some religions. To me an irreligious world is better than an extremely orthodox religious world.

the purpose of religion is to enslave the human race... it's founded on fear, violence, war and hatred.. they promote bigotry, racism, sexism and oppression... a world without religion would be a world ready to iliminate these things.

I am not able to know what religion is. That which others call religion, now a days is just a bunch of festivals and ceremonies.

If you call that festivals and ceremonies as religion, then it is better to have no religion.

If you think that which leads to religious superiority is a religion, it is better to not have a religion.

I feel that religion is something else, which is living good, that principles that which teach us to live good is a religion and nothing else.

Although I dont quiet understand religion fully , I can tell you this from my realization.

Can we have a religionless world?

Religion naturally goes through cycles of orthodoxy and heresy. Heresy allows for different sects to break off, and for new religions to form. Orthodoxy is the reaction against this, the pull to preserve the original intent and form of the religion, and to maintain the authority of the leaders. I generally tend to prefer heresy to orthodoxy -- new ideas are brought in and tested in the marketplace of ideas. Orthodoxy has its function in preserving traditions, but it too easily can become oppressive and degrade into Fundamentalism. And it is Fundamentalism, not religion itself, which is responsible for atrocity and war.

I think that Humanism is a necessary element in every religion -- Humanism is the idea that human beings are good and worthy of respect. A religion that forgets this is in danger of becoming another tool of oppression. A religion that remembers this has the potential for becoming a force of good.

I am a muslim and can only speak for islam that it is not a religion but a complete way of living. To have a life without guidance from ALLAH and HIS PROPHETS(P.B.U.T) will only mean like a machine without a manual. One might be able to run such a machine as it is made up of steel, it will have some definite principles which a few trials can reveal and eventually the machine can be used as desired but this complex machine called MAN, given his unpredictability and tendency to fall prey to SATAN'S trap, needs GOD at every step. life without religion is like a city without law & order and under such circumstances only devil can survive, not us.

Depends on the variety of irreligion. A humanist, rational society would be wonderful. Atheistic communism would be a major drag.

I'm an atheist, but I'd rather live in a democracy with a state religion than a atheistic communist state.

If it ever came about that all countries, their leaders and the fundies of each religion were to stop forcing religion down our throats - the world would be a much better place.

I agree with you, although there will always be people who will incite hatred against others, whether it be because of religion, race or just because you support a different football team.

No, but if you have read your Bible, you would know it is going to become a reality --- after God calls His church outta here! It will definitely be worse ---- because there will be nothing here ( no Holy Spirit) to hold evil at bay, therefore, literally, all hell will break loose on this earth.
If you are ok with being here, you can have it -- I certainly don't want to be.
