I know I have 30 days to add baby, but after he/she is born will he/she be covered? Is it possible that I can start the coverage before the baby is born? and if so how will I go about it. I know I need to call them, I get home so late they are always closed, so eventually I will get a live person.

Someone was telling me about KidCare also, I don't qualify for any state aid so what is the procedure for applying? Is my income taken into consideration? and how soon after birth will it start?

As the previous poster mentioned there is no need or way to add the baby before it is born. The baby will be covered retroactively back to the date of birth if the add-on paperwork is submitted by you within 30 days of birth. If the baby needs healthcare in the first 30 days, it will be considered covered under you AS LONG AS you add the baby within 30 days.

Kid Care in Illinois is now under All Kids Covered.

Technically, the baby's medical bills are covered under mom's id# for the first thirty days. You can not start the coverage before the baby's born because the plan needs a copy of the birth certificate and proof of the baby's SSN. This can take up to 8 weeks to come in. Therefore, it's wise to start the paperwork with your employer within a week after birth. Sometimes claims are denied in the interim, usually when the baby's about 5 or 6 weeks old, but once the baby's officially added to the plan, you can call the insurance company and ask them to reprocess the claims and then you shouldn't be stuck with the bills.

As far as "KidCare" plans, you should look into that with your state's department of social services. A lot of them are income based, but that's sometimes just for what the premium payment amounts. Again, it would probably be the 4-8 weeks or so after birth, but your state's social services people could better answer that for you.

If you already have coverage with them then your baby is automatically covered after its birth. You don't need to add the baby before he or she is born -they don't need coverage before they're born. They do give you the thirty days to add them, and you will have to pay additional premiums for them.

KidCare is a great program, and accepts people with surprisingly high income levels. I had checked it out and my income was still too high, but a friend qualified easily.

It's definitely worth checking out.

Congrats, and good luck!

U could desire to alert the ins corporation (u could have an agent or rep u can call in my opinion). interior of 30 days andt hi could conceal each little thing. If u wait previous the 30 days even though, they are able to choose what ot conceal. in spite of u do, make darn specific u get it performed quickly bc the longer u wait the greater of a discomfort it's going to be. I even have BCBS yet finaly qualify for state help so thankfully have that conceal my maternity, even though, my new toddler would be on my husbands insurance (bc u cant have ins and qualify for the state ins for toddlers.) yet u could desire to double verify bc i purely found out my state provides a application wherein they pay your insurance quotes! So u could desire to learn into that! Your state medicaid place of work could have all the archives. good success!
