Turkeys are very smart! They seem to sence everything in their surroundings. I would think that your best bet would be to fatten them all up by keep feeding them and then have a gun or a bow. You are bound to hit one of the 50-60 in the flock. lol We use to have some wild turkeys in the yard when we lived up on the hill 2 miles from here. I had a hard time even getting a photo shot good thing that I have a good zoom lens. Had one peaking around a tree. It was really funny. During turkey season the guys wear camy gear and sit very patiently for hours in the brush.

You're seeing a whole bunch of wild turkeys? How is this significant? Well, just from that information I can deduce that you are in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and you must be hanging out with our State Legislators. (Not that I'm ticked about the proposed 12 cent hike in our gasoline tax less than a week after the election.)

This doesn't really answer your question but i hope will be of interest I am writing from India ,.I own farm land adjacent to a protected thickly wooded forest ,peafowl wander all over my area, feed on part of the crops & i suspect nest or roost in secluded trees ,they stage a wonderful display at mating time, but never allow me to get close enough with a camera.
Trapping or killing a protected bird is illegal here ,so the thought has never entered my mind, but i would so love to get closer , a photo for the record would be so good.

Do NOT catch a wild turkey!!! It could have all kinds of diseases! For example, a disease is going around in raccoons that all animals AND humans can get. It is very easy for animals INCLUDING turkeys to get it! If a human eats a turkey or even is around a turkey/other animal that has it, you have a really good chance of getting it! 90% of people who get this disease die from it! Get a turkey from the store! It is safe! Even IF this bird didn't have this raccoon disease, It could have something else you could catch! Do NOT eat/handle this bird! Even standing within ten feet away from it could hurt you! Most diseases are air born. If you care for you/your families health, you will NOT catch this bird! It would be SO much easier AND SAFER to just buy a turkey from the store. They also taste better because they are using special foods to feed them with! Most likely, this bird will not be safe to be around! Do NOT catch it!!!

It's illegal to cage a wild game bird in our State, expect it is everywhere. Wait until turkey season, get yourself a license and take one legally. Wild turkey does not get fat like the tame ones, and their meat is dark, and tastes wild.

I don't think you should put a question about catching and killing a turkey in the PET BIRD section, we here, actually like birds, and don't really like capturing them, putting them into a tiny cage so they can end their life by having their neck snapped and shoved into an oven
Go to the grocery store, i hear they are having a 2 for 1 sale
